Restorative yoga invites you to embark on a journey of deep rest and relaxation, cocooned in the loving support of props, blankets, and extended holds. This specialized session creates a serene atmosphere that allows you to unwind both body and mind, leaving you feeling profoundly nourished and cradled.

As you settle into each pose, the comforting props gently guide you into a state of surrender, encouraging tension to melt away and stress to dissolve. The prolonged poses grant your body the time it needs to release built-up tension and find a sense of balance and ease.

With every breath, you delve further into a state of relaxation, cultivating a powerful harmony between your thoughts, body, and inner self. This practice grants you permission to be present with yourself, fostering self-care and self-compassion.

As you gently emerge from this session, you'll find yourself revitalised, with a renewed sense of peace and a warm embrace of tranquility that stays with you long after you leave your mat. Restorative yoga becomes a sanctuary you can return to whenever life feels overwhelming, providing a space to find solace and serenity amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.

How often do you take the time to rest?!
Rest is so important for our nervous system, helping us to drop into a parasympathetic response so that our body can carry out its vital functions
Viparita karani or legs up the wall is one of my favourite postures to find rest in, this shape can be taken against the wall, you might like to support the pelvis with a bolster or you don’t even need a wall to find this shape, simply lay flat on your back and extend the soles of the feet towards the sky, finding the point of balance where the hip bones can soften into the socket and the legs float effortlessly above the pelvis
I love this posture after a long day on my feet as it allows fluid to drain from the feet and legs and for the lower back to release
What’s your favourite way to find rest? Let me know in the comments!
