Did you know that most flavour profiles are emulated in our native plants?

Wattleseed is a good example of this with its coffee/caramel/chocolatey taste

From Wattleseed syrup, to tiramisu & paired with damper, biscuits cakes & the list goes on...

Also low GI & a little bit goes a long way=good value.

I also make a paint using its beautiful tones, so versatile!
~note; not all wattleseed is edible, so check before foraging yourself check that it is indeed an edible variety~

Amazing being on Musqueam Tuleil Wautaugh territory British Columbia Vancouver Canada for a Symposium and presenting at the Learning with the Land Global projects with Uni Melbourne and Monash University on the results and new educational protocols around nature based learning.

Thanks to Emiretus Professor Dr. Rita Irwin and Musqueam Wautaugh Aunt Professor Shannon Leddy

Grateful to have this opportunity and as a team we have X3 published papers and have just secured a book publisher who will be including our combined works in an upcoming publication on First Nations connection to Country and Country based Learnings.

Blessed to do this work ✈️🌎🌿👣

Little scrawling/drawing of Yam Daisy...

Here in VIC known as Murnong

On Darug country known as Midyini

Often confused with Dandelions, & Cats Ear, but subtle differences & a reminder that you really need to correctly identify species!

In my Murnong/Midyini learning sessions I use a Plant identification dance as a tool to teach the distinguishing features of Yam Daisy 🌼 and, yes... Everyone gets to join in 🙂

Little weaved mini Eel Trap..

My style is Contemporary Modern, with lots of colours.

Taught to weave by my aunties and my sister Kursty.

It's a newly acquired skill, but it is ok to be a "beginner at any stage".

Inspired by a recent exhibition I attended on "fishing" at a gallery in Melbs. I learnt that once the traps have been used in saltwater they are warped, so tried to create that affect.

Being a Baramadagal Darug woman with ancestors who lived along the Parramatta river | Baramada at the meeting of saltwater and freshwater (in modern times where the Parramatta ferry is located) we are eel people. So this piece has meaning for me.

Bridging now to next... One stitch at a time 🪡💕
