Tendon pain?
Here are 5 MYTHS we want to clarify, that a lot of people get misinformed about. So, to help you recover quicker, have a read on our tendinopathy post!
๐ Rest will make it better.
Actully rest rarely helps. We want to progressively load you, with recovery and strength tools as well
๐ Stretching helps
Stretching doesn't help either! Stretching actually compresses a tendon closer to the joint and can cause a rubbing inflammation response. In the short term it's not beneficial. You're better off using a foam roller or massage into the muscle than stretching the tendon
๐ Strengthening will injure me
Incorrect. Strengthening can be tricky to manage (load is key) but our tendons are very strong, they can tolerate a lot. So they need enough strength to make their change
๐ Tendinopathy = inflammation
This is old info. We used to call it tendon"itis" but studies have shown in chronic injuries there isn't any inflammation markers. So we have changed our language to tendinopathy for both acute and chronic pain. It's more about the body not healing effectively within its required timeline of injury.
๐ I can't do what I love anymore
Yes you can, we just adjust, modify and load and have patience. We wish things could get better in a quick timeline but we have to respect the body and the injury as well. We can work around it. Love to run, let's get you on an elliptical or run/walk intervals. Love to cycle, let's take out hills and do flats for a while. We can modify ๐ช
If you're injured our osteos can help manage your pain and get you back to what you love!
