Feeling guilty about not following a strict diet is the old way of living with PCOS. I understand why you may still feel this wayâŚ.thereâs still loads of people who think you simply need black and white solutions, such as âlosing weightâ or âcutting out sugarâ to fix your PCOS symptoms.
But, if these quick fixes worked, then everyone with PCOS would adhere to them. Instead, they simply lead to confusion and frustration. Additionally, these quick fixes, not only make you feel guilty for ânot doing enoughâ but they end up depriving you of important PCOS nutrients, and often exacerbating your symptoms!
PCOS guidelines tell us that the best intervention for PCOS is personally tailored advice by an Accredited Practising Dietitian. PCOS is a complex hormonal condition so you need an assessment by an expert who can assess your PCOS history, your personal symptoms, other medical conditions you may have, your lifestyle, your goals, your food preferences and more. Without an expert-led dietetic assessment, you wonât know whether âcutting out sugarâ or âlosing weightâ will be beneficial for you, or whether you require a completely different strategy (which my guess is, you probably will!).
So, if youâre tired of PCOS symptoms, and want to get some REAL results, do you really want to blindly try some quick fix diet or do you want to finally get some personally tailored expert advice?
