Still needing some assistance in kicking your NDIS goals?

A psychosocial recovery coach may be just what you need.

Like a support coordinator, a recovery coach assists with linking clients to services and monitoring the NDIS plan’s budget; however, a recovery coach has more one-on-one contact time with clients and there is a big focus on goal setting!

If you think recovery coaching may be for you (or a peer), contact Smart Support on (03) 5922 4510, or email us at info@smart-support.org.

Did you know that it takes an average of 66 days for new habits to form in the brain?
Think about this fact next time you feel discouraged about falling behind on sticking to a new habit.

The human brain needs reputation, so the more and more we do something, the stronger that pathway becomes in the brain, making it easier to achieve in the future.

So, if you’re looking for that sign to stick to your goals- this is it!

Did you know that Smart Support offers NDIS support coordination?

Support Coordination is a service provided by the NDIS for participants to assist with organising their plan. A support coordinator will link clients in with services such as psychology, support work, physio… the list goes on! They will also stay on top of the client’s budget to ensure they do not run out of money in the plan.

Though receiving an NDIS plan is super exciting and a huge win, it can be very overwhelming trying to navigate the cost of services and deciding on which services to utilize- this is where a support coordinator comes in handy!

If you have support coordination in your plan, or would like help applying to get it, don’t hesitate to reach out to us on (03) 5922 4510, or email us info@smart-support.org.

This week we learn about person-centred care, what it is, where it came from and the main elements.

As you can see in today’s post, the core elements of person-centred care are: respect, dignity, compassion, non-judgement and personalisation. To put simply, therapists encourage a equal and respectful relationship between themselves and the client.

Nowadays, most service providers adapt this approach when working with people, and here at Smart Support we strive to deliver all of our services with respect and equality.

The person-centred approach is therapeutic technique that treats each person respectfully as a human-being, and not a condition that needs to be treated.

When psychology first started, the client had little control over their therapeutic journey and were treated almost like lab rats being studied. In the 1960’s therapist Carl Rogers developed the idea that clients would be better helped if they could focus on their own subjective experience, rather the interpretation of the psychologist.

In the present day, person-centred care has extended past psychology and into most providers in the service industry.

What better way to build confidence than role playing in a fantasy world?

Smart Support’s Dungeons and Dragons group is an amazing and unique way to build communication skills, confidence, and conflict resolution. The game also challenges participants critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Are you up to try something new?

It often feels like confidence is something some are born with, while others are not; and it’s true that not everyone possesses natural killer confidence.
While confidence varies, all individuals can work towards building their confidence overtime with a few adjustments as seen in the image today.

My 3 faves from today’s post are body posture, taking risks and making mistakes, and asking others for help or offering help.

I challenge you all to try commit to one of these pointers this week and see if you can notice a difference to your confidence.
