I asked my students to share one thing that amazes them about pregnancy, birth or motherhood… 🤩

Here’s what they said ⬆️

For me, it’s the entire journey —
conception → pregnancy → birth → motherhood

It constantly amazes me how our bodies are so beautifully designed by nature 🙏

Recently, while studying childbirth physiology, I learnt more about the amniotic sac something most people simply think of as “a bag of water” around the baby.

But it actually plays some incredible roles during labour and birth that truly blew my mind:

🌿 1. It acts like a natural cushion softening the pressure of contractions on the baby

💧 2. The fluid environment allows baby to adjust position/ rotate more easily during labour supporting their descent through the pelvis.

🤱 3. It helps prepare baby for feeding

The fluid tastes similar to colostrum, helping baby become familiar with it even before birth, nature’s way of gently preparing them for feeding.

The more I learn, the more I’m in awe of how intelligently the body works 🪄

What is that one thing that amazes you? Would love to know in the comments.

Labour is intense… 😓
but with the right tools, it can feel manageable 👍

These are the 4 tools I used in my own births and have helped so many mums in labour.

1️⃣ Breathing practices
Sighs, horse lip breaths, low humming → helps you stay relaxed and focused

2️⃣ Movement
Hip circles, swaying → supports your body and eases discomfort

3️⃣ Sound & Release
Using sound like “maaa”/ bees breath on the exhale → relaxes the body and pelvic floor

4️⃣ Partner Support
Massage, counter pressure, grounding support → makes a huge difference to manage the intensity

These aren’t things to figure out in the moment…
they’re things to practise before the day — together with your support person.

✨ That’s exactly what we do inside
Yoga for Birth — Couples Workshop on 26 April.

A practical, hands-on session where you and your support person learn how to use these tools when it matters most.

This is something I’ve been thinking about for years 🤔

And in many ways, I’ve been teaching it for years through my prenatal yoga program too.

Over time through my own births (public, private hospital and a homebirth) and working with so many mums,
I’ve come back to the same truth again and again:

The most powerful tools for birth are already within you.

Your breath.
Your body.
Your ability to stay present and let the body do its magic

No complicated techniques.

Just learning how to work with what your body already knows.

I’ve used these exact tools in my own births…
and I’ve seen how powerful they can be when you practise them well in advance.

But there’s one more piece that makes a huge difference:

👉 *Your PARTNER* being on the same page.👩‍❤️‍👨

Because in those intense moments,
it’s not about explaining what you need…
it’s about them already knowing how to support you.

That’s exactly why I created this ✨

*YOGA FOR BIRTH* Couples Workshop

A yoga-led experience where we bring together:
• Movement and positions for labour
• Breathing practices you can rely on in the moment
• Simple tools to stay grounded and present
• Practical partner support that actually helps

No overwhelm of an exhaustive course. Just what you truly need.

✨ Limited to 8 couples

You see your baby sleeping peacefully, all curled up, soft cheeks, tiny lips 🥹

Brain: don’t do it 😘
Heart: just one, he’s so cute… 🥰

…2 seconds later 👀

Baby: awake
You: 😭😂 I have to start it all over again

Mamas comment ‘GUILTY’ 🤦‍♀️ if you do this too 👇

Getting up shouldn’t feel like a workout.

But it often does…
when you’re pregnant (or early postpartum) and unsure how to get up watch this 👇

One of my mums recently asked me this:
Simple, everyday ways to get up from a chair or the floor safely.

Here are 3 ways to try:

1️⃣ From a chair
Slide to the edge → hands on thighs → press up

2️⃣ From the floor (via kneeling)
Come onto all fours → bring one foot forward → lunge → hands on knee → rise

3️⃣ From the floor (with support)
Same steps → but use a chair/sofa/bolster for support as you rise
(Third trimester / early postpartum — when everything feels hard, IYKYK)

Take your time
Slow, controlled movement > rushing

✨ Gently engage your core (think: hug baby in)
✨ Use your arms + legs to share the load
✨ Avoid sudden movements (hello dizziness)

These are the small, everyday movements that protect your core long term.

Save this and send it to a pregnant or newly postpartum mama 👋

It is the hardest, yet the most rewarding! 🏆 😓
Everyone warns you about what you’ll lose when a new baby arrives ‼️ How much you’ll have to give up.How far “back” you’ll go.How hard it will be.
But no one really talks about this…

How much you’ll want to give.
How fiercely your older kids fall in love with the baby. How your home somehow grows bigger with more laughter, more cuddles, more tiny moments.

And how you get to relive those early baby days again…The sleepy cuddles, the little stretches, the wonder of it all.

If you’re thinking about another baby but holding back only because it might be hard starting it all over again..
Sometimes the hardest things become the most beautiful chapters. ✨
Mamas, do you agree? Comment Yes 👍

I didn’t truly understand what women’s strength meant… until I became a mother.

Not from books.
Not from inspirational quotes.
But from witnessing women rise, again and again through pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

Through my work as a pre and postnatal yoga specialist, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing this strength everyday.

😔 The woman trying for pregnancy, holding onto hope through heartbreak 💔 and disappointment.

🤰 The pregnant mother who refuses to see this phase as fragility, choosing to move, breathe and stay connected to her body even through pain, fatigue or complications.

👩 The woman preparing for birth who wants to trust her instincts, even when the world around her tells her there is only one “right” way.

🤱The mother in the thick of sleepless nights and overwhelming days who still refuses to give up on herself, her dreams, or her wellbeing.

🧑‍🧒The single mother who goes against all odds for her children

🤝 And the women who quietly support other women through these seasons with encouragement, presence and understanding.

Because motherhood isn’t just a phase.
It is a transformation.

It shapes who you become.
It shapes how you see the world.
And it shapes the next generation.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Balance the Scales, reminds us how important it is that women feel heard, supported and empowered in every phase of life including pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

Because when a mother feels supported, the impact ripples far beyond her.

Today, I celebrate the quiet, fierce, resilient strength of mothers and mothers-to-be everywhere.
