I asked my students to share one thing that amazes them about pregnancy, birth or motherhood… 🤩
Here’s what they said ⬆️
For me, it’s the entire journey —
conception → pregnancy → birth → motherhood
It constantly amazes me how our bodies are so beautifully designed by nature 🙏
Recently, while studying childbirth physiology, I learnt more about the amniotic sac something most people simply think of as “a bag of water” around the baby.
But it actually plays some incredible roles during labour and birth that truly blew my mind:
🌿 1. It acts like a natural cushion softening the pressure of contractions on the baby
💧 2. The fluid environment allows baby to adjust position/ rotate more easily during labour supporting their descent through the pelvis.
🤱 3. It helps prepare baby for feeding
The fluid tastes similar to colostrum, helping baby become familiar with it even before birth, nature’s way of gently preparing them for feeding.
The more I learn, the more I’m in awe of how intelligently the body works 🪄
What is that one thing that amazes you? Would love to know in the comments.
