Mud, rain, and soggy paddocks — winter is hard on horses.

But the right routine keeps skin and hooves healthy through the wettest months.

Here are your Cavalor winter must-haves:

Why should you wipe your gear off (saddles, bridles, boots) after every ride?

Sweat is salty and slightly acidic. Left sitting on leather, it draws moisture out of the fibres, dries them, and over time causes the leather to crack, weaken, and lose strength at exactly the points you most need it strong.

Dirt and dust are abrasive. Every time the leather flexes under you, those tiny particles grind into the grain and wear it down from the inside.

Grime also seals the surface, so when you do eventually condition, the conditioner can’t soak in.

The leather goes stiff and brittle no matter how much product you throw at it.

Extend the life of your leather products by wiping down your gear with a wet, damp cloth and some gentle leather cleaner (such as Cavalor’s easy to apply Leather Soap) after every use.
