We’re shining a spotlight on Lidia, who’s been an integral part of the Footscray Day Surgery team for an incredible 10 years!

Celebrating with Lidia are surgeon Dr Andrew Atkins, anaesthetist Dr Ali Gur, Director of Nursing Mini and members of the Footscray Day Surgery team.

Over the past decade, Lidia has been a friendly face in admissions, a supportive mentor to new staff, and a valued leader – serving as Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) from 2021 to 2024. Her kindness, professionalism and genuine care have made a lasting impression on both colleagues and patients alike.

RiverCity Private Hospital was abuzz last week as we hosted a CPD event for Brisbane’s eye health professional community.

Ophthalmologists Dr Jenny Tian, Dr Nick Toalster and Dr Erwin Groeneveld (pictured in image 1) delivered engaging presentations aligned with the event theme, ‘Critical vision: managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and urgent optometric emergencies.’

Topics included:
- Introductory guide to glaucoma management – Dr Jenny Tian
- Proliferative diabetic retinopathy, traction retinal detachment, surgery and complications – Dr Erwin Groeneveld
- 5pm on a Friday walk-ins! - anterior segment emergencies and how to handle them – Dr Nick Toalster

It was a fantastic evening of learning, connection and a little friendly competition – just ask team members Tiger and Khang (pictured in image 2), who took out the prize for best quiz team name with ‘The Eyevengers!’ 🦸‍♂️👁️

A warm welcome to Dr Mark Donaldson, who recently joined the North Queensland Day Surgery team.

Dr Donaldson (standing second from the right in this image) is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal specialist with extensive experience in diabetic eye disease, macular and retinal conditions, fluorescein angiography, and retina and vitreous surgery.

Our team is proud to collaborate with Dr Donaldson and provide a state-of-the-art environment that enables the highest standard of patient care.

We’re delighted to officially welcome Dr Brian Ang to Boroondara Day Surgery, having recently completed his first surgical list with us. It's been a pleasure for the Boroondara Day Surgery team to work alongside yet another accomplished surgeon.

Dr Ang is an internationally trained and highly experienced ophthalmologist with expertise in glaucoma management, cataract surgery, and the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

With his proven record of clinical and surgical excellence, we’re proud that our state-of-the-art facility will support him in continuing to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.
