Had a wonderful trip to Kivulini maternity hospital to meet the staff, deliver a lecture and tour the hospital. The staff are passionate, engaged and proud of the care they deliver to women in Tanzania. And they should be! Truly a ‘centre of excellence’, funded by donors of Barbara May foundation

The Barbara May Maternity Hospital, Ethiopia, has benefited from completing the planned repairs including retiling the main inpatient ward, replacement of ceiling tiles, plumbing repairs, and painting. A visiting Australian obstetrician and gynaecologist was generously able to relieve the hospital obstetrician for three weeks. As the lone specialist in the hospital, he was afforded a much-needed break. Again, Dr Andrew came to the hospital in March performing 12 fistula repairs and assisting a further four patients with serious urinary incontinent problems.
