๐ Walter is a 6 year old who presented to see Dr Heather and nurse Maddie as his owner was worried about one of his toes. On examination his toe was sitting at a very odd angle - either due to dislocation or fracture! Dr Heather discussed the various treatment options and recovery times and in the end it was decided that the fastest road to recovery for this adventurous feline, was to amputate his toe.
๐ฉ๐ผโโ๏ธHe had surgery performed with Dr Penny to amputate the problematic toe, which went well. Fractured toes are hard to manage in both dogs and cats, due to the difficulties keeping them confined, keeping a bandage on and regular bandage changes. Often the best way to manage these is via amputation, which is what was elected for Walter. He is now one toe down, but still up to all his usual mischief!
