My kids have always loved Halloween and with the increased popularity in Australia over the last 10 years means more people are participating. For my girls, the opportunity to dress up with friends and experience the freedom of walking around the local area knocking on the neighbours doors to trick or treat felt really grown up!

Halloween holds a rich spiritual history with its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which has evolved over the centuries. Samhain, celebrated on October 31st, marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, a time when the boundary between the living and the spirit world was believed to be at its thinnest where it was thought spirits could more easily interact with the living on this night. People would light bonfires, wear costumes, and offer food to appease wandering spirits. As Christianity spread, All Saints' Day, or "All Hallows," was established on November 1st to honor saints and martyrs. The night before became known as All Hallows' Eve, and the blending of Celtic and Christian traditions created the modern Halloween. Today, Halloween is a time for both fun and reflection, where spiritual themes of life, death, and the supernatural continue to be a part of the celebration, whether through spooky stories, costume choices, ‘trick or treating’ or the remembrance of departed loved ones during Day of the Dead traditions.

My youngest daughter is old enough now to walk her younger cousin around the streets in costume so they can continue this fun tradition together. Happy Halloween! 💕

R U Ok? Day ~ 14th September 2023 💕

R U OK? day is a reminder to meaningfully connect with friends, family and the people around you and start a conversation with those in your world who may be struggling with life.

Everyone faces challenges in life but we often put on a brave face and carry on without asking for help when we need it. By asking R U Ok might just change someones life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Some great tips to help:
* Ask R U OK?
* Listen
* Encourage action
* Check in

💙 Today is International Day of Friendship 💙

International Day of Friendship was first introduced in 2011 as a way of connecting people and trying to bridge the gap between cultures, countries and ideologies. Friendship is incredibly important to a person’s wellbeing as it can bring so much joy into one’s life, created through a common bond like a favourite pastime, similar taste in movies and finding common ground. But what happens if we don’t have friends?

💙 The latest research shows that 1 in 3 people are now claiming to experience loneliness regularly with the highest age group being between 18-24 years old. During the pandemic, life as we know it changed and it has had a massive impact on people socially. We all had to adapt to online shopping, ordering food and drink for home delivery via apps, chatting online with friends via text, appointments were conducted online and work and school were done remotely. All of those incidental moments to chat to store assistants or waiters in cafés or people in a waiting rooms and friends at work or on the playground at school were gone. As life started to return to normal the anxiety crept in as people had lost the confidence to talk to strangers and thus missing out of the opportunity to make new friends.

💙 I see a lot of people in clinic who are experiencing loneliness and are unable to break free of their social anxiety to go out and make new friends. Kinesiology can help with change, supporting you and lifting the barriers that hold us back while empowering you to feel good again.

💙 International day of friendship is a reminder to reach out to your friends and let them know how much you love and appreciate them, I have a lot of beautiful friends but I'm dedicating this post to my longest friendship Siobhan Rehill, we have been friends since we were 4 years old. We don't see each that much but my cup is always full afterwards 💙

A friend of mine Ash Alba shared this poem "Why am I rude" the other day and I thought it was an excellent explanation about the ways teens and kids process emotions and how they struggle with certain behaviours. Definitely worth a watch!

Happy International Moon Day! 🌜

🌖 Humans have always had a facination with the moon as a constant present yet ever-changing object in the sky. It's no surprise that ancient cultures around the world were curious about the moon, incorporating it into all sorts of myths and legends.

🌓 The phases of the moon have long been associated with our emotional states. Like the tides during a new and full moon our emotions are pulled to the surface and feelings are heightened. Empaths are particularly sensitve during a full moon because of the raised vibrations felt from others and can find it difficult to sleep.

🌗 In history the moon has also been useful as a practical tool to help define time as its cycle takes 29.5 days. The indigenous people of North America named the full moon to reference its associated seasonal phenomena, from the blooms and harvests of flora to the behaviour of fauna like the buck and corn full moons, these names are still used today.

🌒 International Moon Day celebrates man's first landing on the moon and the continual research astronomers achieve to unlock the moon's mysteries. When we look up at the night sky, each of us sees something different. Some see an endless constellation of stars, some see humanity's future, and others see hope. I am happy with my view from earth and will be forever in awe of her beauty.
