Ajwa and Medjool dates are both nutrient-dense whole foods that are naturally rich in fibre, potassium, magnesium and protective antioxidants.

The main difference comes down to size and portion load.
Medjool dates are much larger, which means more total carbohydrate and natural sugars per piece. Ajwa dates are smaller and milder in sweetness, making them easier for portion control.

Glycaemic load reflects both carbohydrate quality and portion size, so the difference isn’t about one being “better,” but about choosing what suits your energy needs and lifestyle.

We stock premium quality of both so pop in and we’ll help you choose the right option for you.

General nutrition information only. Individual needs may vary.

Bowel changes during Ramadan are very common, and usually temporary.
Fasting alters hydration, fibre intake and gut rhythm, which can slow digestion for some people.
Constipation, bloating or heaviness after iftar are often linked to low fluid intake, reduced fibre, and larger meals eaten quickly.
From a nutrition perspective, supporting hydration, fibre intake and gentle movement can help regulate bowel habits.
For some individuals, gentle support such as magnesium or fibre supplements during non-fasting hours may also be helpful.
Supporting gut health during Ramadan improves comfort, absorption and overall wellbeing while fasting.

Refined carbs vs Complex carbs. ✨️

Not all carbs are the same! especially during fasting.
Refined carbs digest quickly, spike blood sugar, and often lead to an energy crash soon after.
Complex carbs digest slowly, providing a steady release of energy that helps keep you fuller, more focused, and energised during the fast.
Protein is essential for satiety and muscle support, but protein alone isn’t enough for sustained energy.
Complex carbs play a key role in fuelling the body, stabilising blood sugar, and supporting energy levels throughout the day.
During Ramadan, especially at suhoor, prioritising protein + complex carbs helps reduce hunger, energy crashes, and fatigue while fasting.

Ramadan & Hydration ✨️

Hydration is one of the most important foundations during fasting.
As a general guide, the body needs around 1 litre of fluid per 25 kg of body weight per day, which needs to be consumed between iftar and suhoor during Ramadan.

Electrolytes help your body absorb and retain that water by moving it into your cells, without them, water alone may not fully hydrate you.

Low electrolytes can show up as headaches, fatigue, dizziness, cramps or brain fog.

Proper hydration during Ramadan supports energy, focus, and wellbeing throughout the fast.
