⚡ Shocktober: Empowering Hearts ⚡
Every day, around 21 Victorians suffer a cardiac arrest, and only one in 10 survives. A cardiac arrest happens when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively, making every second count.
For every minute that CPR is delayed, survival chances drop by 10%! When CPR and a shock from an AED are administered before paramedics arrive, the chance of survival more than doubles.
Restart A Heart Day on 16 October is part of the global Shocktober campaign—a powerful initiative aimed at raising awareness and teaching our community life-saving skills with CPR and AED use.
By learning these skills, we can all play a role in improving cardiac arrest survival rates. Together, we can make a difference.

✅ Regular Physical Activity – Aim for at least 60 minutes of play each day
✅ Limit Screen Time – Encourage active play rather than prolonged device time
✅ Educate on Healthy Choices – Teach the importance of nutrition and exercise
✅ Regular Check-ups – Keep an eye on growth and overall development
Taking proactive steps in these areas can help nurture a strong, healthy heart from a young age. Consider speaking with your pediatrician about heart screenings or nutritional counseling to ensure your child’s heart is as happy as it is healthy!
