Many of us, have enjoyed the pleasure of visiting Yerushlayim. It is a beautiful city, and many claim its holiness is palpable. It is a tourist destination, and a place for introspection, for seeking peace, holiness and spiritual energy. Without formal training and only some life experience, I would offer a modified perspective of the conclusions made by Dunning and Kruger, described below. I suspect that when modesty is inculcated and penetrates to the core of one's being, it dramatically alters one's identity and abilities. Chazal describe the conflict of Humanity and HKBH's solution in the order of Creation. When we are modest, when our perspective is balanced, we are informed - the entire universe was created, meaning prepared, for you because you are the purpose of Creation, you are the focus of HKBH's attention; when however our perception is distorted, we are told, even the insect was created before you. The Torah commands, perhaps advocates, capital punishment. When capital punishment is applied, the co**se, in some circumstances, must be hanged in public. However, it is prohibited to leave the co**se hanging overnight. Burial is required on the day of ex*****on. Beis Din would hang the co**se for only a moment, before immediately burying it. You must be exceedingly careful to protect your souls, by keeping in mind that when you stood at Mount Sinai and heard Gd speak to you, you were as close to Gd as you could possibly get, yet you saw no image or shape. The people chose to avoid HKBH's advice. They democratically elected, and gained Moshe Rabbenu's half hearted agreement, to send spies to investigate the land that HKBH had long promised to their forefathers. Upon their return, ten spies reported that choosing to go to war to conquer the country was suicidal. Two disagreed. These two, Yehoshua and Calev were very persuasive and spoke with great passion. We blow Shofar on Rosh HaShana, unless it is Shabbos. Chazal, our Sages OBM, decreed that when RH is on Shabbos we do not blow Shofar, lest some due to their enthusiasm and excitement at performing this annual Mitzvah, inadvertently desecrate Shabbos. Yet, the once in 50 years Mitzvah of blowing Shofar for the Jubille, Yovel; which takes place on Yom Kippur, which is a double Shabbos - Shabbos Shabbason; although it seems that it ought to be similarly restricted, is not limited by any decree of Chazal.
