Moments that make us smile!

Last month Trisha popped in to spend some time with Kerrie. It was lovely to see her support worker Annette from there too!

Annette has been by Kerrie’s side for over 5 years, supporting her in everything she enjoys. Kerrie loves looking out the window and people watching. Something she also enjoys doing when she does community activities as well.

💜 A reminder of why we do, what we do. 💜

Last month, one of our families shared a moment that truly touched our hearts.

Evie attended a birthday party with 15 other girls; it was a big milestone for her. She waited patiently for her turn, used her manners and stayed calm and kind, even when one of her close friends didn’t include her in a game.

Instead of getting upset, Evie handled it with grace. She stayed true to herself and absolutely shone. ✨

Her mum, Vanessa, shared that she nearly cried on the way home just thinking about how far Evie has come.

It’s moments like these that remind us how powerful the right supports, therapies, and consistent care can be.

We’re so proud to walk alongside incredible families like Evie’s, celebrating every step, every win and every moment of growth.

Disability-Friendly Spotlight: Melbourne Zoo

A trip to Melbourne Zoo isn’t just a day out, it’s a journey into the wild, made for everyone. 💚

Here’s why we think it’s a top pick for people with disabilities:
🦘 Wide, easy-to-navigate pathways
🦘 Accessible parking close to the entrance
🦘 Sensory Maps & Social Scripts: Plan your visit around high and low sensory areas. Social Scripts, created with Amaze, help neurodivergent visitors feel prepared and comfortable.
🦘 Access Key: A full guide with professional photos, supportive text, an easy-to-follow venue map, a visual communication board, and sensory guides.
🦘 Quiet Times: The zoo is typically quieter on weekdays between 3:00–4:30 pm, perfect for a calmer, more relaxed visit.

Accessibility isn’t just about getting in the door, it’s about feeling welcome every step of the way.

💜 A moment we’ll never forget!

Branka has been Rodney’s Support Coordinator since June 2023 and in that time, he’s come such a long way.

After having a stroke 14 years ago, Rodney wasn’t able to move his left side or speak. His incredible wife, Janet, has been by his side every step of the way. With ongoing speech and physio support, things have changed. Rodney can now move, walk and even speak short sentences again.

During a recent visit to our office, Branka cheekily asked Rodney to write his name. He declined, however, with a little encouragement from his wife Janet she said to him “How about you write Branka’s name?” Rodney said “Ok”. He was able to write Branka’s name with his good arm. Janet told us that he hasn’t picked up a pen since 2012, this day was the first time he put pen to paper for 13 years!

A small moment with such big meaning and one we’re so proud to share. 💜

Stories like Rodney’s remind us that progress looks different for everyone and that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

Independence doesn’t mean doing everything on your own…and support doesn’t mean giving up control either!

It’s about finding that sweet spot in-between. That place where you feel confident, capable and still have the right help when you need it. 💜
Sometimes that’s asking for a hand, sometimes it’s building skills and sometimes it’s just having someone in your corner while you do your thing.

It's not one-size-fits-all. It’s about what works best for you.

Want support that works with you, not for you? Get in touch with our team today.

Ever seen someone’s support completely change a moment? 💛

On Survivor, Eva, the show’s first autistic contestant experienced sensory overwhelm. The only person who knew about her diagnosis at the time was Joe. Even though he was on a different tribe, Joe noticed the signs right away. He’d supported her before and knew exactly what was happening. You can see the moment he has been given permission and he walked over and wrapped Eva in deep pressure hugs and grabbed her hands, helping her regulate and feel safe again.

It’s a powerful reminder that awareness, compassion and the right kind of support can change everything.

At M&A, we recognise that support isn’t about doing everything for someone, it’s about knowing when and how to show up. 💛

Branka recently visiting one of our mums after her son’s plan was reviewed.

Together they went through all the docs, sorted the plan manager paperwork and made decisions on how the funding would work best for their family.

The sweetest part? Mum called afterwards just to say thank you and share how much Branka has made a difference in their world.

Branka LOVED her visit today! Happy to make a difference to our participants lives.
