A great evening at the Rokeby Twilight Trail Run 2023 - all the good feels being surrounded by a beautiful landscape and wonderful people.

For those of you who don't know, I LOVE yoga and this New Year, my resolution is to take my yoga off the mat and try to consciously practise it in my triathlon training too 🕉

To be present through the trials, the tedium and the triumphs: to appreciate what each experience has to offer. To learn. To flow. To grow 💚

And on this first day of 2023, it's bike riding for me and running for Craig in heat us Melbournians are trying to acclimate to! 🌞 🏃‍♂️ 🚵🏿‍♀️ 🥵

I finished my first Triathlon today - it wasn't pretty, but I got it done! 🏊🏻‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

Although I am a strong POOL swimmer, swimming in the choppy ocean amongst a tight crowd of people in a super snug wetsuit brought on an anxiety - and jelly legs! - like I have never felt during and after a swim... Definitely ocean swim training required!

For years I have taught it and today I was humbled to have experienced the reminder...the ocean is colder, darker, saltier and turbulent, and there's no black line to follow!

However, after some reflection - and a good nap! - I'm looking forward to taking the many lessons of today and preparing for the next one.

And Craig kicked off the first event of his third and, for the first one back, he did really well - 2 PB's on laps of the Bike and the Run!! 🙌

So grateful for his help and guidance today - especially with getting my wetsuit on and helping me to understand and navigate the transitions - your example, support, and belief in me really lifts me up, Craig - thank you 🥰

Simply put, that was one of the best weeks of our lives.

We finished hiking the GOW this afternoon on Day 6 after 108kms on the trails.

And what a day to finish! 🌞 It was 27 degrees here today - beautiful!!

We have run out of juice, but our cups are well and truly full 💚💚

Homewardbound now feeling very grateful, and spent!

Thank you for your support along way, on this adventure and our other adventures on the trails and in life 🥰🥰

Word for the day: STEEP! And muddy! Lots of steep up and down and it was quite boggy in places on Day 5 of our Great Ocean Walk from Castle Cove to The Gables, but with elevation comes views and there were many that we stared at in awe for quite some time 😍

As such, Craig was quite camera happy today! 🤳 Every time I reached for my phone when we got an eyeful of something pic worthy, I'd hear, 'Got it!' or 'Selfie!' I think it's because it's our last day on the GOW tomorrow and he wants to savour all he can 💚💙

We're a bit weary and I'm finding it hard to string a sentence together, so I'll let the pics speak for themselves! 🌊🚶🏼‍♀️🚶‍♂️⛰️

88kms done and 1 day to go...

Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings 🤩

The first pic is the view from our next and final accommodation after what has been a very eventful Day 4 on our Great Ocean Walk from Castle Cove through (quite literally!) Johanna River to Melanesia Track 🌊🚶‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️⛰️

From bright green, spiky pom-pom forests to surf beach walks and sandy river crossings, onto magnificent views of rolling green hills on one side of the trail and collosal rocks framing foamy, turquiose-blue coastal shores on the other, then through ferny gullies and an eucalyptus forest and straight into a spa bath to soak our weary legs!
Looking forward to the sunset views from our balcony tonight before we hit the hay with happy hearts 💚💚 🌄 😴

We're having such a wonderful time - thank you for looking after us so well 🤗
