I’ve been working with a woman who wanted to improve her physical and mental wellbeing. She had some health concerns, and the first thing she wanted help with was giving up coffee.
“No problem,” I said. “How many coffees do you drink a day, on average?”
“Umm… I’d say 18 to 20.”
“Sorry? How many did you say?”
“18 to 20.”
“And is that every day?”
“Yes. Every single day. And I don’t drink any water at all.”
“Okay… What’s your goal? What would feel like a healthy, comfortable level for you?”
“I don’t want to drink coffee at all, and I want to start drinking water.”
We talked about expectations, and I reassured her that she’d experience a powerful shift from her very first session. I also explained that a couple more sessions might be needed to fully break the habit and lock in deep, lasting change.
Two weeks later, she returned for her next session.
The first thing I noticed? She drank the glass of water I had placed beside her…. and then asked if she could have more.
“How have you been going?” I asked.
“Really good. I haven’t had any coffee since I saw you.”
“None???”
“No. And I’m drinking two litres of water a day.”
“No coffee at all?”
“None.”
She told me she had experienced headaches for a couple of days, but she understood it was just her body detoxing….. so she stayed committed and kept drinking water.

Two months later, she still hasn’t had a single coffee. She’s sleeping better, making healthier food choices, and her anxiety has significantly decreased 🙌
