Does your lovebug adore a certain animal? Mine is a self appointed platypus warrior, who picks up trash and litter while muttering about the poor platypus in the river.
She even won a competition where her art skills are on show! Check out the sign 💕

It’s Alice’s birthday today! The girl who inspired me to create this journal journey 💕📔

She’s an animal lover, which many of our kiddos are. Do your kids love animals too?

Alice’s favourites are Cats, Dogs, Platypus and Axolotyls.
Her brother Elliot loves Cats, Dogs, Warthogs and Cows.

Who am I?
My name is Johanna and I’m a neurotypical mother to a wonderful neurodiverse daughter named Alice.

Our autism story?
When Alice was in kindergarten ,her educator’s scheduled a meeting to discuss their concerns with how she was progressing. Very bright and quick, but struggled with processing and social situations. They mentioned seeing a professional for assessment and assistance.

This was all during the throes of Covid and restrictions so it was a long and hard journey! We now have an amazing array of health care professionals to help her thrive, now she’s been diagnosed with autism.

Why create a journal?
I was creating pages for Alice anyways, as I love to draw and create, and would have friends and family ask for some too, and so it begun. I decided to create a dedicated journal for neurodivergent girls, to help them understand themselves better and also us as parents/care givers/health professionals to help understand them too.

Please follow my exciting journey as I create this journal. I’d love for it to help people ❤️

A beautiful nurse friend with a fantastic mind had the idea of refocusing after some exercises in our journal to ask the very important question, “what does being neurodivergent mean to you?”

My hope is that as the child goes through our journal and learns more about herself and her amazing powers, she will start redefining what it does mean.

If they start off with a positive, that’s absolutely fantastic! And my goal is the same, learning more about herself is a wonderful thing 📔 this question will be asked a few times through the journal, in the hopes that the answer changes and grows over time.

Hi everyone! I thought I’d create a dedicated page so those who are interested can come along for the ride.
My goal is to create a journal for young girls who are on the spectrum/have autism/neurodivergent to help them flourish, give them tools to develop, understand themselves better and help bridge the gap between child, caregivers and medical professionals in their team.
I’m focusing on girls as that’s all I personally have experience with, and also girls have historically been ‘left behind’ when it comes to their male counterparts.
Almost all studies have been done on boys, while girls go under the radar and have an often tough time being diagnosed, treated or understood.
Feel free to join me as I try to navigate my journey as well, as a neurotypical mum just trying to help her daughter 🥰
