📣 Vaccine Update For Families 💉 🌟

From 1 September 2025, there will be important changes to the childhood pneumococcal vaccine schedule in Australia.

👉 Prevenar 20 will replace Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23 on the NIP (National Immunisation Program).

✅ Covers more strains of pneumococcal disease

✅ Fewer doses needed

✅ Simplifies the schedule for families

👶 What this means for children under 5:

👉 Not yet started: 💉 3 doses of Prevenar 20
👉Had 1-2 doses of Prevenar 13: 💉 switch to Prevenar 20 to complete the course
👉Already completed Prevenar 13 & due for Pneumovax 23: 💉 receive one dose of Prevenar 20 instead

🌍 All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children will now receive 4 doses, bringing consistency across all states and territories.

💉 What is the BCG vaccine- and why is it important?
