'Ginhawa and our Sacred Ecologies' is an exhibit enframed within the diverse expressive aesthetics of ginhawa, and the necessities of its existence – of deep ease and balance, one that welcomes sacred rest, regenerative quiet, reflective moments and time-out in order to ‘tune in’ to our inner and outer sacred ecologies – as pathways to reclaim our self-autonomy and sovereignty in an increasingly discordant, autogenerated, digital-based world. Through acts of slow-existence, the sacred silence and ginhawa that co-mingle in these works, we are reminded how the multidisciplinary arts can offer us vital spaces to just be, to breathe, to gather back life, within ourselves and our vital ecoscapes – and perhaps forego, even for a while, the burgeoning tyranny of the digital, the instant but fleeting notifications of our times.

Nature Mandala

Our community mandala was created out of the fallen foliage from our walk across the UP Forest Lagoon. We took time to reflect on how these pieces from nature might symbolize our current feeling states and intentions. We also took time for some breath work, a dance improv, some sandpaper art.

Noticing, feeling, reflecting, crafting, sharing. Being in the now. Being with nature. Being with others.

All these gifts that surround us.

We just discovered that this poem of ours, "Sa St. Kilda Beach, Melbourne," around 2 years old, came out in Mountain Beacon.

One of my odes to that time in Melbourne, my safe, sacred harbor.

Ahh, to just be, to breathe, to heal.

Life is better when we dance together. 💜💃

We had the chance to teach a dance improv class at Miriam College ILAW Center.

To move and flow from within is always a liberating experience!

Salamat, ILAW Center!

Dance of Stillness

Let’s move from fear to flow!

We practice self-care in stillness and in motion.

We sit in meditation and we also move in meditation.

So Dance of Stillness is another way of saying: Slow down, be still, take moments of quiet.’
