💚 World Cerebral Palsy Day 💚
This one is incredibly close to our hearts.

Ten years ago, my eldest daughter Ava was diagnosed with right-side hemiplegic cerebral palsy. While classified as “mild,” it’s had a profound impact on her life — from surgeries and endless physio and OT sessions to working with personal trainers just to do daily what most of us take for granted.

It hasn’t always been easy — but Ava shows up every day, gives it her best, and keeps pushing forward no matter what. She does it all with heart, strength, and a smile that lights up the room.

Through all the challenges, she’s never let CP hold her back. She’s learned to ride a bike, scoot, swim, and play basketball — side-by-side with able-bodied kids. Her determination is something truly special.

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common physical disabilities, and there’s no cure — just a lifetime of support, strength, and resilience. It can affect one limb or all four, one side or the whole body — but it does not define intelligence or potential.

💚 Let’s use today to raise awareness, educate others, and celebrate the courage and achievements of people living with CP.
To everyone out there living with a disability: we see you, we support you, and we’re with you. 💙

Are you a passionate and experienced support worker ready to step into a rewarding role — or lead a small, committed team? We’re expanding our team and looking for female support staff to join a 24-hour roster supporting a female participant in South Melbourne.

🏡 About the Participant.

📍 Location: South Melbourne
🔹️ Age: 40 years old
🔹️ Support Model: 24-hour supports including daytime, weekends, sleepovers, and cover shifts
🔹️ Client Preference: Female support worker, available for consistent shift coverage

🌟 Immediate Start.

✅ Regular permanent shifts available
✅ Sleepover and weekend shifts available
✅ Team Leader role available for the right candidate to lead the 24-hour team

🌟 Experience Preferred In:

🔹️ Complex Tourette’s Syndrome
🔹️ Anxiety Disorders
🔹️ Epilepsy
🔹️ Behaviours of Concern (BOCs)

🌟 Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Deliver respectful, person-centred 1:1 support
🔹 Promote daily living skills, independence, and community access
🔹 Work collaboratively with the participant’s team (family, coordinators, other workers)
🔹 Lead or support the coordination of the care team (for Team Leader applicants)

✅ Selection Criteria:

Highly Regarded:
✔️ Certificate in Disability, Aged Care, Nursing, Mental Health or similar
✔️ Experience with complex behaviours or health needs
✔️ Reliable, professional, and emotionally intelligent
✔️ Flexible availability
✔️ Leadership or shift lead experience (for Team Leader role)

Mandatory Requirements:

🔸️100 Points of ID
🔸️ First Aid & CPR Certification
🔸️ Working with Children Check (WWCC)
🔸️ NDIS Worker Screening Check
🔸️ Relevant Qualifications/Certificates
🔸️ Driver’s Licence + Reliable Vehicle + Comprehensive Car Insurance
