A bride enquired whether Joanna would be able to alter her bridesmaids dresses π
Of course she can! π
With this dress, Joanna eased in the bust area to minimise any gaping, adjusted the neckline and replaced the buttons at the back to give the correct fit. π

Here Joanna is creating a fastening for a sleeveless suit jacket. π§₯
You can have a small button,
Hook and eye or press stud attached to the inside to the lapel of your jacket, to help the fit of the jacket and stop any unwanted gaping.πͺ‘π§΅

Joanna had altered two lovely bridesmaids dresses before the new year. ππΌππΌ
She adjusted both the busts on the dresses, one to fit the fuller figure and tapered the other.
With both dresses Joanna had to take off the bottom ruffle (flounce) to reshape the dress.

A customer gave us a call about a much-loved merino wool sweater that was a bit worn out and had a few holes in it.
Joanna altered the holes using a neat felting technique! π

Alterations to be made:
π unpick sleeves
π unpick neckline binding
π take off decorative lace on the front of the bust
π shorten zip
π make v- neckline front + back

Let us explain a part of the process of shortening and hemming a cardigan really simply.
βοΈcut out the binding
π§΅stitch one side of the binding to hem the cardigan.
β finish off by hand sewing the other side of the binding to complete the hem.

Finishing off the patterned shirt π«
Joanna has cut down each of the sides from the sleeves, which has tapered the shirt to the customers desired size. The sleeves have also been shortened. βοΈ

Joanna first began altering dress patterns and making clothing as a young girl. She was fascinated with changing shapes and altering high street finds to create a better fit and unique look.
Realising she had a knack for creating stylish pieces, Joanna formalised her training with a Masters and Diploma of Fashion Design at RMIT. Her designs have won awards, including gown of the year in 1981.
