No, it’s not a myth—it’s the nickname given to the calf muscles, and the reason why is truly fascinating!

When we walk, climb stairs, or simply stand up, these muscles contract and act like a natural pump, pushing blood upward—against gravity—toward the heart. 💪🩸

This mechanism is essential for: ✔️ Supporting venous circulation
✔️ Preventing blood from pooling in the legs
