Your initial consultation with Balance Osteopathy, we will ask about the history of the problem you have been experiencing and your more general health history. This is to give us an overall picture of what the issue is in the context of your individual health and function. We want to know about your current daily activities, and what you would like to get back to as we help alleviate this issue.

We will take you through a general movement screen and focus on functional tasks, activities or sports you engage in, followed by specific table based hands-on assessment, motion testing and palpation. Our services are designed to help you get back to your old self as quickly as possible.

Frequent headaches are often linked to tension in the neck, shoulders and upper back. Factors such as poor posture, stress and prolonged screen time can contribute to muscle tightness and joint restriction.

At Balance Osteopathy, osteopathic care focuses on relieving this tension, improving joint mobility and restoring healthier movement patterns. By addressing the underlying cause — not just the symptoms — we aim to reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and support long-term relief.

Hip discomfort can affect everyday activities such as walking, sitting, and even sleeping. Often, the source of the issue extends beyond the hip itself, involving the lower back, pelvis or surrounding muscles.

At Balance Osteopathy, we take a whole-body approach, assessing how these areas work together to identify the underlying cause of discomfort. Treatment may include hands-on techniques and targeted exercises to restore balance, improve mobility and support more efficient movement patterns. Improving hip function can have a positive impact on your overall comfort and ability to stay active.

Your ankles play a vital role in balance, stability and overall movement. Weakness or previous injuries can lead to reduced control and a higher risk of sprains or ongoing instability.

At Balance Osteopathy, we assess how your ankles function in relation to the knees and hips, identifying any imbalances that may affect your movement. Through targeted treatment and personalised rehabilitation exercises, we aim to improve strength, coordination and control, helping you move more confidently and reduce the risk of future injury.

Did you know your breathing pattern can influence your posture? Shallow, upper-chest breathing often contributes to tension in the neck and shoulders, while efficient diaphragmatic breathing supports better spinal alignment and overall movement.

At Balance Osteopathy, osteopathic care may include addressing restrictions in the rib cage and surrounding structures to improve breathing mechanics. This can help reduce tension, enhance posture and support more comfortable, efficient movement throughout the day.

Long hours at a desk can place significant strain on your posture, often leading to discomfort in the neck, shoulders and back.

Small adjustments can make a meaningful difference — keep your screen at eye level, shoulders relaxed and feet flat on the floor to support better alignment. It’s also important to take regular breaks; standing, walking and performing gentle stretches every 30–40 minutes can help reduce tension and improve circulation. At Balance Osteopathy, regular osteopathic check-ins can help restore healthy movement patterns and prevent ongoing strain from becoming a chronic issue.

Prolonged sitting can place added pressure on the spine, compressing spinal discs and reducing blood flow to surrounding muscles. Over time, this may contribute to stiffness, discomfort and reduced mobility. Incorporating regular movement throughout your day can help minimise these effects.

Alternating between sitting and standing, along with short movement breaks or gentle stretches every 20–30 minutes, supports better circulation and reduces strain on the body. At Balance Osteopathy, we encourage balanced movement habits that promote a healthier, more resilient musculoskeletal system.
