Moira Tobin - Duck's Back - move.grow.cook & Thermomix Move naturally, grow food and cook with me! Melbourne based 'zero waste' Thermomix Consultant. My philosophy is that exercise should not cost a fortune. Moira x

I have something in common with every one of you... a heart beat and only 168 hours a week to juggle family, work, household duties (cooking!) and exercise! Before having four children I worked behind the scenes at many of Australia’s major sporting and artistic events. My carefree weekends were spent training for marathons, triathlons and fun runs, or cycling through parts of our beautiful countr

y. Spare time was spent educating myself about the benefits of good nutrition. After having children my career change to qualify as a Personal Trainer was a natural one. As an eco fitness trainer I have discovered that nature is the perfect gymnasium. I’ve also found ways to incorporate exercise into my daily household routines. Having studied permaculture design, I am converting my suburban backyard into a productive food orchard. You are what you eat. My Thermomix certainly helps to feed a growing family healthy, nutritious food that they’ll enjoy eating and that won’t break the bank. I believe if you are armed with the right advice, a positive attitude, a willing (and able) body and have access to the great outdoors, you will discover infinite ways to exercise consciously and effectively whilst achieving sustainable results. No matter what title you hold or how busy you are... your path to health and wellness can become like “water off a duck’s back!”. Sharing the journey together.

Fun night out talking all things Thermomix with one of my favourite recipe creators .

Over the years I have purchased ‘nearly’ all of her cook books … need to rectify that.

Our conversation flipped between chickens (day two of my two Maisy/Maisie chickens co-habitating and all good so far), health retreats, colonics and parasites (after dinner 😂) and possible health retreats. Perhaps we could/should organise a group healthy adventure in 2026. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do you think?

Would be loads of fun with guaranteed laughter.

Thanks for joining us and sorry you missed the photo opportunity . As I was literally driving home on I yelled out to Alyce “we forgot to take a photo!”. More crazy laughter while I drove back and parked the car.

Thanks also for my Thermo gifts to trial Alyce. My first cold pressed juice combo will be with cleaver ‘weed’. Watch this space!

Never say never.

If I had a dollar for each time someone in Thermomix management asked “why don’t you become a Team Leader?”, I could retire.

I have been a Thermomix Consultant for almost 12 years and for almost 12 years I have flatly refused the suggestion.

Recently I said to my State Manager, “I will resign before stepping up to leadership. I want to grow food, not a team”.

Never say never.

Last month my Team Leader of almost 10 years decided to hang up her apron. So, I had the option of joining another team OR creating my own.

After much deliberation, many conversations and writing out a pros and cons list, I decided on the later. It was time.

From the 1st of July I left Team Shine and I commenced the ‘challenge’ of Thermomix Team Leadership

I have much to learn.

In the past few days I have created even more lists and asked for advice about an appropriate team name.

I’m happy to introduce to you my new team, The KINDred Mixers.

Well, I'm a team of 1 at the moment put hopefully it will grow. 🥕

I can chat with you about joining Thermomix teams across Australia but if you would like to be with me the ‘catchment’ area extends around my hood in Boroondara, within Central Melbourne (ish), some bayside suburbs.

‘They’ say, “never say never”.

This expression may also apply to you?

If you have ever been curious about joining the Thermomix business I’d welcome the opportunity to connect with you. Maybe you are after a side-hustle or just need to earn extra cash to pay off some bills.

Please call me to chat or send me a private message.

Let’s get this party started.

I’d love to support yOUR Thermomix journey.

KINDly

Yesterday I shared a story about a fox killing five of my chickens.

We are not sure how but one little chicken survived. Maisy. I have always called her Princess Maisy. I tried phoning a chicken breeder yesterday to find her a new friend. Chickens need company.

On my post yesterday Dolly wrote, “someone has just posted about a chicken needing rehoming on a local page”. I found the post and asked to be considered.

You won’t believe it….

The family had two chickens but one died of old age yesterday. They needed to rehome their lonely chicken. And, their chicken’s name is Maisie!

This afternoon our girls met.

My little Pekin is tiny in comparison so I’m hoping they get along. I will separate them for few days and gradually introduce them to each other.

Both chickens are the same age, almost 6 years old.

Hopefully they will both live happily together in their retirement years.

I will get more pekins one day. But, everything changed yesterday. The chickens won’t ever be able to free range again without 100% supervision..foxes are so cunning and it’s just not worth the trauma.

Thanks for the tag yesterday Dolly 💕💕🐔🐔

I’m back!

Not that I have been away but for the past three months - I have been totally aware that my social media content has taken a dive.

However, instead of facebook I have been spending lots of time face to face introducing (un) real people to the world of Thermomix - both the TM6 and TM7 models.

Thank you to Andrée, Indri, Alyce, Aranka, Narelle, Marlene, Suzanne, Michelle, Sally, Jennifer, Kaya, Sarah, Joanne, Karen, Margaret, Kylie, Melinda, Gillian, Leanne, Belle, Karen, Emmanuel, Teresa, Monique, Megan, Bronwyn, Haley, Victoria, Fiona, Hannah, Sue, Mary, Danielle, Carol, Nerissa, Karen, Danielle, Susan, Marie, Vicki, Nikki, Lina, Carolina, Philip, Suzanne, Alexandra, Fiona, Jake, Martin, Rosanna, Michael, Caryn, Rebecca, Liam, Judica, Angela and Sam for choosing me to be your Consultant.

I’ll save you counting….

Almost 60 new members have joined Moira’s Mixers in just 3 months.

So, now it’s time to make a few promises…

One is to personally keep learning so I can share that knowledge with you - hopefully this will encourage and inspire you to make the most of your investment.

I also promise to create more virtual and in-person events. Cook Dinner With Me (virtually) is making a come back. It’s time to introduce new recipes to our weekly planner. We did this years ago and it was fabulous. Recipe and ingredient lists are shared and we jump online together. Lots of learning, sharing and fun to be had. Stay tuned.

Also to keep me fit and healthy I’m going to walk 7kms for every TM7 purchase. Starting with my first sale. I’ll send every TM7 owner a private message when I’ve completed my walk to say thank you. This is my tenth year walking the year in kilometres and I’m seriously behind so I am setting myself this challenge to catch up!

Finally I collect one kilogram of rubbish for every Thermomix I sell so I have 60 kilograms of rubbish to collect! Sadly, it won’t take me long. Stay tuned for photographic evidence.

Keep moving, growing food (we need to more in this space also) and cooking!

Here’s to creating your great weekend.

Can you help? 🙏

One of my lovely Thermomix customers (and friend) Teresa Lachowicz has organised this raffle.

Google her name.

She has volunteered for years, sourcing, co-ordinating and despatching pallets of aid (meals, clothing, medical equipment etc) to Ukraine.

All profits from this raffle (including 100% of my Thermomix Commission) will be donated to Plast - Ukrainian Scouting Organisation in Australia. Proceeds will help provide Ukrainian children and their families with school supplies, toys, clothes and food packages.

If you can purchase a ticket (they are $20) it would be fabulous. You might just win a new TM6!

If you are unable to purchase, liking, commenting and sharing this post will help too. 💜

Raffle is drawn this Sunday at 5pm.

May the luck of the duck be with you. 🤞

Welcome to the house of fun.

I feel like I have been letting the team down.…

Although I have been ‘missing in action’ with my socials I have been ‘busy in action’ meeting people face to face - delivering all of these TM6 and TM7 machines (and some) to their new forever homes.

Let’s face it, the past few months have been a little cray cray.

In June I beat my ‘PB’ with Thermomix sales and ended up sixth Consultant in Australia overall - this was/is huge for me.

I 100% acknowledge that these achievements are because YOUR loyalty and support of my small business.

And, that is completely appreciated.

One morning last week a customer started crying when we unboxed her TM6. She has wanted and saved for a Thermomix for so long. It’s such a privilege to share these moments with members of our community.

This will be my final ‘full’ week of completing Thermomix deliveries so I’ll be promoting Open Homes and sharing more cooking inspo shortly.

It’s also going to be time to catch up on life. Should you order a TM7 now it won’t be available until August. From feast to famine!!

Please always connect if you have any questions at all. This partnership is definitely two way. The more interaction we have the more you will learn.

Hoping you had a fabulous weekend and create your great week,

Moira x

When you receive a message from Ellen (Alyce's sister) saying "we would love you to be our Thermomix Consultant because everything you do aligns with our ethos and values", what can you say?

I have been a fan of Alyce Alexandra Cookbooks since day one and own (almost) every cook book. Her 'kasoundi' recipe was and still is my one of my favourites. Like Vegetable Stock Paste, there is ALWAYS a jar of Kasoundi in my fridge (recipe in comments). I rated it my NUMBER ONE recipe a few years ago.

It was so lovely meeting with Alyce on Friday. I thought it would be a short meeting as she is so busy but we literally chatted for hours! I had to cut our conversation short as I was heading to the theatre (made it with only ten minutes to spare!).

Thank you both for choosing me as your TM7 Thermomix Consultant. I'm looking forward to sharing new beginnings 🤞

Got my brand new TM7! I had such a lovely day with Moira, my consultant at .move.grow.cook - she showed me all the ropes and we made a delicious meal together. One of the things I’ve loved about the Thermomix community for the 15+ years I’ve been a part of it is the passion of the consultants - people who truly believe in the power of home cooking, and the value of empowering people to cook from scratch. And I truly respect that. I have such beautiful relationships with so many consultants across Australia and New Zealand, and I’m sending you all so much love. My mum was one of the first consultants in Australia, and I saw from a young age how hard she worked, and how much she cared about her customers. And Moira too, she is so passionate about people getting the most out of their Thermomix. I’m so excited to start using my TM7 and supporting TM7 users on their journey, just as I have for TM6, TM5 and TM31 users for the last 12+ years. Lots of love, alyce xoxo

I've just downloaded this facebook live as they are being deleted after 30 days...

I filmed this after my Saturday morning walk on 1 July, 2023.

I want to keep this recording, it was the first day of Plastic Free July.

I didn't know at the time but the footage kinda went viral (in my terms) and it was most definitely the start of national support in Australia - raising awareness of the excessive Thermomix packaging. My video footage was circulated globally.

A few days ago I unboxed my new (polystyrene free but not quite plastic free) Thermomix - the TM7.

This one packaging change has such an impact on YOU also.

We really only have one home.

There is cause for much celebration. 🥂

The smile on my face is genuine.

Adventures of the travelling Thermomix Consultant, continued…

“Moira, why would you drive 2 1/2 hours to deliver a Thermomix? Just have it delivered to their premises and send them an unboxing video!”

~

Well, I’ll tell you (my) why…

This morning I was on the road when peak hour finished but didn’t arrive at Karen’s place until after 12 noon (I did make a short diversion to stop at a produce store to purchase the best eggs in Gippsland).

As soon as I opened my car door I was greeted with “hello, I’ve made us some soup for lunch”. As soon as I saw that the table had been set I agreed to unbox the Thermie after we had eaten!

Let’s just say, this was not your normal Thermomix delivery.

Karen was once a Consultant so she knows her way around a Thermomix and was able to spot a good offer when she saw one - taking advantage of the recent promotion with the $1,000 of extras.

When I sent her a message last night she replied, “Can’t wait! So excited”.

The pumpkin soup was home-grown and made in the TM5, the sourdough bread was home-made and the coffee. Well, it was excellent.

You’ll be happy to know that you can also experience Karen and Marty’s hospitality.

Many years ago they escaped Melbourne and opened their home in Yanake as a Bed & Breakfast, Olivi.

Olivi is a gourmet retreat for couples and their property is minutes from the entrance to Wilson’s Prom. If you book the Sea View room you will wake up to ocean views.

I’m very envious of their garden. The olive grove, citrus and various fruit trees and their veggie patch is incredible.

Karen is an exceptional chef and if requested you can also join them for dinner. I’d personally say this isn’t an option. Just do it!
Dessert last night was lemon tart (I was fortunate to take home a slice) with Thermomix made lemon verbena ice-cream. You had me at “hello”.

Please follow Karen’s business Olivi bed and breakfast bed and breakfast or visit https://olivibedandbreakfast.com.au/ to reserve your luxury escape.

I’m so grateful that you chose me to be your Thermomix Consultant. We come from the same ‘school’ and both pefer ‘face to face’ connections and interactions.

Imagine…if I had the Thermomix delivered to Karen’s door and sent a link to watch a video I wouldn’t have had this experience and created such happy memories.

Thank you both for a fabulous day and I hope you didn’t eat the honeycomb all at once!

Moira x

PS this is also why I have not shared any TM7 content.…it’s coming!
