Moira Tobin - Duck's Back - move.grow.cook & Thermomix Move naturally, grow food and cook with me! Melbourne based 'zero waste' Thermomix Consultant. My philosophy is that exercise should not cost a fortune. Moira x

I have something in common with every one of you... a heart beat and only 168 hours a week to juggle family, work, household duties (cooking!) and exercise! Before having four children I worked behind the scenes at many of Australia’s major sporting and artistic events. My carefree weekends were spent training for marathons, triathlons and fun runs, or cycling through parts of our beautiful country. Spare time was spent educating myself about the benefits of good nutrition. After having children my career change to qualify as a Personal Trainer was a natural one. As an eco fitness trainer I have discovered that nature is the perfect gymnasium. I’ve also found ways to incorporate exercise into my daily household routines. Having studied permaculture design, I am converting my suburban backyard into a productive food orchard. You are what you eat. My Thermomix certainly helps to feed a growing family healthy, nutritious food that they’ll enjoy eating and that won’t break the bank. I believe if you are armed with the right advice, a positive attitude, a willing (and able) body and have access to the great outdoors, you will discover infinite ways to exercise consciously and effectively whilst achieving sustainable results. No matter what title you hold or how busy you are... your path to health and wellness can become like “water off a duck’s back!”. Sharing the journey together.

A recent driving experiment found that 95% of of participants improved their driving skills when transporting a pavlova in comparison to driving with a CHILD or DRIVING ALONE. 😳

Today is my husband’s birthday…it ends with a zero. 🍾
So, I have organised a few little surprises.

One was morning tea at millstone in Malvern to catch up with his parents. 🎂

Alice Wright is the owner of Millstone. Her little sister was my neighbour / babysitter when my kids were babies - she refers to me as Aunty Moi. I feel like I am part of their family, I’ve known them for almost as long as my husband!

Alice gifted my husband a little surprise in the form of birthday cakes and trust me they were transported with lots of care on the way home.

I may have (purchased) a cake for morning tea and I may have sampled one of the gifted cakes for afternoon tea.

Thank you Alice and the staff at Millstone. Hoping to see you again very soon.

Know anyone that would like to own / purchase a Thermomix?

Become a Consultant and they could possibly be your first customer.

The TM4U program is coming to an end.

Your task?

Introduce 4 new owners to the Thermomix and you will have earned yourself a TM7. The only outlay being your time.

This offer is coming to a close at the end of October, 2025.

Thereafter it will probably (who really knows 😍) to the standard offering of earning your Thermie with 6 sales in 60 days.

We still have time to make this dream become a reality.

Whether you are wanting a new hobby, needing to learn more about your investment or a career (just ask our most senior management team...come for a Thermomix / stay for life).

A Thermomix Consultancy business could just be the door that opens many.

I would be happy to chat with you. Maybe a walk and a coffee but, it will need to be in the next few days! And, as always, there are never any expectations or obligations.

Stay curious.

Just a tad weary.

Had my first little garden tour ‘trial’ with members of my sauna and ice bath tribe from Flowst8 Melbourne.

An introduction to composting, growing food and landscaping with a zero budget. Marketplace is my friend. Permaculture. Collecting free resources to make compost and revegetation of Gardiners Creek. Willow Glen is our home. We are so fortunate to be the fourth owners of this beautiful home - I need to write a book about her history. My 2026 project?

Perhaps next is Moira’s garden to Thermomix experience.

Interested?

Love finding a bargain!

The Boroondara Hard Rubbish Rehome Market is on until 2pm today at 340 Camberwell Road (link to the group is in comments below).

Today’s score was picking up a copy of the Thermomix Festive Flavours book for $2!

I paid $50 for this book when it was originally published.

I’ll pay it forward and gift to one of my Thermomix customers.

One person’s trash is another persons treasure.

What has been your best hard rubbish find?

Every Saturday morning for two years (approx) a group of us would meet on zoom at 9.30am and menu plan for the following week.

We chatted about what we made the week prior. Shared new recipes. Created shopping lists and inspired each other to step out of our comfort zone.

I’ve been thinking about this ‘phase’ quite a bit over the past few weeks.

We were in lockdown.

It was a form of connection.

Friendships were made.

When you plan what you eat, you eat what you plan.

And, guess what?

You create less waste.

If food waste was a country it would be the world’s third largest emitter of greenhouse gases, following the USA and China.

Studies show that meal planning is also associated with better food variety, less take-away and binge eating.

Menu planning can also save you hours of decision making,

Are you a menu planner or do you make decisions based on ingredients you have in the fridge?

I’m feeling an urge to start menu planning sessions again.

What do you think?

B-Alternative is an Australian Social Enterprise - partnering with businesses, councils and communities in an attempt to reduce waste and drive circular economy solutions.

My daughter volunteered with B-Alternative for years but over time she has proven herself.

Management have given the opportunity to experiment with many roles within the organisation.

One of her roles currently is designing and monitoring their social media content.

She has been introducing their staff - I have been reading reading their stories. A few months ago it was Gretel’s turn.

When I swiped through her story I had tears.

I’ve been criticised over the years…too much. Digs from ‘friends’ and random strangers when I express my love of sustainable movement (no equipment needed). Sneers about avoiding fast food chains and growing food, consuming edible ‘weeds’ - there’s no need for the use of pesticides. Aphids are welcome in my patch as are their predators, ladybirds. Using the Thermomix to cook. Laughed at for collecting rubbish.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

One very proud mumma moment.

Thanks bubs.

So glad I’ve been strong enough to resist trends - raising such decent, capable human beings who have respect for people and yOUR planet.

Phew! It's been quite a week.

As you may have read, I recently stepped up to become a Thermomix Team Leader. It has only taken me 12 years as a Consultant to make this decision. 🥰

There are two ‘qualifying’ stages. And, tbh I’ve been under the pump.

You remain a Consultant when you become a Team Leader so I have still needed to achieve certain milestones and reach my Thermomix sales targets.

I AM VERY VERY VERY happy to say that on Friday I qualified / completed the first stage of my Team Leader challenge.

Stage two of my challenge has already started - no rest for the wicked.

We have 11 days to go with our latest Thermomix TM4U promotion whixh ia sell 4 Thermies in 90 days and a TM7 is yours. No financial outlay at all.

YES, you can either own a TM7 by paying for it outright OR you can EARN one by becoming a Thermomix Consultant. Buy it with your time.

To be honest, I joined with zero intentions of hanging around. It was just to fill in some time and give me some 'me' time when my four babies were little. I LOVED doing demos in the evening to escape the chaos of my own family life 😝.

So, I am looking for people to join my team, The KINDred Mixers. And please don't think you have to be like me. Diversity within my team is an absolute personal goal.

There are zero obligations so if you are curious please let's chat. Send me a dm, call me or comment below.

Seriously, what have you got to gain?

Two sons celebrate their birthday on 8 October.

We had a family dinner tonight.

One son is vegatarian the other is vegan.

So, I launched Cookidoo and searched for ‘vegan cake’.

I wasn’t happy with the results.

I had apples that needing using so I search Cookidoo for ‘vegan apple cake’.

I still wasn’t happy with the results.

So, I searched Google for ‘vegan apple cake’.

I’m easy (ish) to please but ugh….I wasn’t happy with the results.

I then searched Google for ‘vegan apple cake Thermomix’.

Ta da.

The first recipe that appeared was Alyce Alexandra Cookbooks Thermomix Spiced Apple Cake.

Oh Alyce Alexandra, you have done it again. 💕

This afternoon I made the best vegan birthday cake you could ask for using simple staple ingredients from the pantry - utilising apples that were days away from being in the compost bin.

Birthday boys and the rest of the family were happy.

This recipe is an absolute keeper: https://www.alycealexandra.com/blogs/free-recipes/spiced-apple-cake-thermomix-recipe?srsltid=AfmBOoqztSNnN-JRe7ZfmtjGZZecQCOuG9hdn7RVE5wtVWMe7gMb5hp8

If you haven't make it yet, please do. You won't be disappointed.
