Coughing on two specialists is better than one!

The Cough Clinic has partnered with Melbourne Ear, Nose & Throat & Airway Clinic (MENTAC) to offer a joint ENT and Speech Pathology team-based assessment, with patients benefitting from integrated care and shared expertise. Initial assessment will routinely involve fibreoptic nasendoscopy, the outcome of which will determine suitability to progress to rehabilitative cough therapy and/or the need for further medical treatment or testing.

Cough therapy has seen outstanding outcomes in this emerging area of treatment, with significant gains in roughly 9 out of 10 patients with refractory cough, some with coughs that have persisted as long as 55 years.

Chronic cough (a cough that persists for more than 8 weeks) is common and debilitating, with one study estimating up to 10% of adults suffer from chronic cough globally.
