In 2025, Rob and Jill Boyle of Rob’s British and Irish Butchery were named Corporate Citizen of the Year. For 33 years, they’ve promoted central Dandenong as a place to shop and visit, supported local charities, and given many locals a start in the workforce.

Meanwhile, Giancarlo Artho took out Sportsperson of the Year 2025. Starting in go-karts at age seven, Giancarlo earned a full scholarship to race in the 2024 Indian F4 Championship, while also contributing to his community through the FReeZA and Noble Park Youth committees.

Give your old bike a second life at our Reuse and Recycle Drop Off Day next Saturday 23 August at Greaves Reserve, Dandenong.

All bikes collected on the day go to Brainwave Bikes, Melbourne's largest second hand bike retailer. Their profits go towards donating bicycles to families in need as well as the charity Brainwave Australia, which supports families and children with brain illnesses and injuries.

Last year, 125 bicycles were donated to Brainwave Bikes, lets see how many we can donate this year! 🚲

In the mid 1800s, Dandenong was an overnight stopping point for passengers travelling from Melbourne to Gippsland, a journey that could take over 24 hours on horseback or by carriage.

Taken over a hundred years later, this 1967 image makes us reflect on the rural origins of our region.

Share your memories of growing up in the area with us in the comments.
