This means that you can't light, maintain or use any fire in the open air. This includes fire pits, fireworks and firecrackers.

Today a Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Central, South West, Wimmera, North Central, and West and South Gippsland Fire Districts.

The Cantonese Art Association received a $2,488 grant to host a vibrant Lunar New Year festival in Springvale last year. The gala dinner featured live music, folk dance, a choir and more, attracting 230 visitors!

The Springvale Asian Business Association (SABA) are holding the Springvale Lunar New Year Festival this Sunday 15 February from 10am – 10pm on Buckingham Avenue.

As part of the event, firecrackers will be set off at 12pm, with a fireworks display at 9pm.

While many of us love fireworks, some pets get startled by them. If you live nearby and have pets at home, please make sure they are safe and secure during the display.⁠

βœ… Small Grants: $250–$1,500 – Open all year for community groups to deliver local projects and to support individuals in sport and art.

βœ… Medium Grants: Up to $10,000 – Applications close 10 March for projects starting 1 July 2026.

The Dandenong and District Orchid Club received a $1,000 grant to host their Annual Orchid Show at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre last year. The club, which has been running for over 33 years, brings together more than 70 members monthly and attracts hundreds of visitors to its annual show. Thanks to the grant, they showcased one of their best displays yet.

Thanks to a small grant, a local athlete represented Australia at the World Dodgeball Championships in Austria in 2024. They helped Australia secure an amazing 3rd place, showcasing our local talent on the world stage.
