Please welcome our fourth guest, Ali Jaffer! Ali is a clinical audiologist working in Tanzania. He first started his audiology career in the UK before moving to Tanzania to work in the first privately-owned audiology clinic in the country. Ali has experience in aural rehabilitation, cochlear implants, and diagnosis and treatment of vestibular disorders. In addition to his varied experience, Ali is passionate about reducing barriers to accessing ear and hearing care in Tanzania and Africa more broadly.

This year, Tonga’s Ministry of Health is rolling out a school hearing screening project to assess hearing and ear health of children in the first two years of school. Last month a group of ear and hearing health professionals, including Chris Waterworth of HEARglobe, provided training to nurses to provide them with the skills needed to conduct hearing screenings as part of this project.
