Great day at the office! Complex head & neck reconstruction using microsurgical techniques. It has taken 6 years of medical school, 3 years of medical residency, 5 years of accredited plastic surgery training, 2 years of overseas fellowship & A LOT of support, mentorship & guidance to be able to do these cases….. I’m very to be in this photo

This was a really interesting secondary case.

This patient had her original rhinoplasty done approximately 50yrs ago. Although considered “standard techniques” at the time, we have learned so much over the years, that our current techniques are now vastly different. We can only learn by constantly reviewing techniques & outcomes & by constantly striving to do better.

It will be interesting to see what we learn, & how we change our surgical approach over the next 50yrs……. Especially with AI technology?

I am always humbled by the gifts I receive from patients. The patient who had these delivered to our clinic had a tumultuous journey prior to meeting me. It means a lot to me when patients place their trust in me - I don’t take this responsibility lightly & respect the vulnerability of patients.

I am extremely grateful to have been on the faculty for the AFI (Anatomy for Injectors) this year. A thorough knowledge of facial anatomy is essential in providing safe surgical & non surgical treatments. With non surgical treatments in particular, where one cannot visualise nerves & vessels, it is critical to understand where these structures lie, both in terms of their depth and trajectory. This hands on course enables participants to visualise anatomy in a way that no text book can offer…… I highly recommend this as a great educational opportunity.
