I loved this video. Watching the wood turn and be made into something was meditative and I really enjoyed how beautiful the piece was at the end.

Just previewed/visited a disability arts class at Community Arts Centre in Croydon, with my mate and Meg.

I love these cute little houses! There's bigger (but still small) ones in the garden outside, but I guess my picture of them didn't take properly.

A haunting painting from (1948) This enigmatic portrait depicts a young woman lying in a field. In the extract from the discussion the context of the subject is revealed. It is this revelation that makes you realise why there is so much tension and mystery in this painting. For a simple landscape it promotes intensity under the shadow of its reality.

Read an excerpt from the ongoing book series, about one of the most popular—and contentious—paintings in American history.

Beautiful work for NAIDOC Week

JUST ANNOUNCED - congrats to Bobbi Lockyer, the winner of the 2023 National NAIDOC Week Poster Competition! Bobbi is a Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru artist, born and based on Kariyarra Country in Port Hedland WA.

The competition is an iconic feature of National NAIDOC Week and has a rich and significant history beginning in the 1960s when the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) first began producing posters.

The 2023 theme is ā€˜For our Elders’ and Bobbi’s design captures the essence beautifully.

ā€œOur Elders are the foundation of our communities and role models for our children. With this poster I wanted to showcase how important our Elders are in passing down traditions and culture to our children and future,ā€ said Ms Lockyer.

What do your Elders mean to you? Can you see the inspiration in the artwork?

We're trying to get art classes/art group back on, they will be on Zoom if we must, and definitely hybrid if you can't make it in-person. We'll do painting, yarnwork, papier-mâché, a timetable will be worked up if we have enough interest.

Inbox us if you're interested.

It's a crochet flower, here's how to do it. I can put them on the mug cosies, if anyone wants one (on our eBay). I'm putting it on a wristband for Mothers' Day!

Here's how to do it:

1. 8 hdc into a magic circle.
2. chain 1, increase in each.
3. chain 1. 3 hdc into one, slip stitch into the next 2, repeat all the way around

It's easier than it sounds, I had to just DO it to understand it.
