#1 The "traumatic" nail problems.

Skin Temple deals with a wide variety of skin & nail problems, including fungal nail infections like this one of nearly 10yrs duration. DrT honestly wasn't sure that she could save the patient's toenails from being permanently deformed, but they're looking fabulous already. 🙂🙂🙂

And yes, getting rid of this problem, whilst very slow & requiring multiple rounds of testing & treatment, has been a life changing journey for this busy young mum. Another 3months of treatment & nail growth, & a hygienic pedicure is waiting as the reward!

Symptoms included itchy, sensitive feet, worse in summer heat, reddened cracked skin on soles & sides of feet, grossly thickened & discoloured toenails, which failed to respond to topical fungal treatment or laser performed at podiatrist clinic.

There's a VERY interesting news article, written by the Background Briefing team & published on ABC news today (Australian ABC, not American ABC) which I would have really loved to share on here and discuss with anyone interested in the concepts of "Post Hyaluronidase syndrome" and Body Dysmorphia.
But because AHPRA has banned registered health practitioners in Australia from mentioning the names of skin treatments, and sharing articles that mention them, I'm prevented from participating in this public discussion.
If anyone wishes to discuss this issue privately in a consultation, that is another matter! If you have similar concerns to those mentioned in the article, please get in touch. After 25yrs in the industry, I have a lot to say on this matter!

Once again, AHPRA's legislation interferes with public discussion and awareness of cosmetic medicine topics.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Le Louvre's Georgina Weir this week.
Georgina was my former retail neighbour back in the Collins Street days. I have some lovely memories of visiting Le Louvre, and getting to know the fun character of Georgina.

One of my favourite memories from that time is of popping out to grab lunch one day and almost bumping into the musical artist Pink, peering through the windows of Le Louvre, surrounded by several bodyguards.

Thank you for your hard work Georgina, and may you rest always in peace.

Many have the same zinc base, and were tested in the same overseas laboratory.

A new update on the sunscreen furore involving UltraViolette, amongst other brands.
With 22% zinc in the formulation, it seems implausible that it would test at SPF4, according to the founders. I do agree!
Some of our patients rely on UltraViolette sunscreen, so it seems like a good time to add them into our sunscreen review.
In case you're wondering, what started as a South Korean and Japanese sunscreen review following my travels earlier in the year, has now expanded to include a comparison of all sunscreens available at Skin Temple. And we're not limiting the review to personal opinion either.
Our Visia machine is being put to the test, objectively, with each of the sunscreens, which is actually what it was originally designed for.
Looks like we'll be adding UltraViolette to the Visia analysis too.

Peak consumer group Choice has defended its sunscreen testing and publicly released all tests in the face of criticism about its methods.
