A new update on the sunscreen furore involving UltraViolette, amongst other brands.
With 22% zinc in the formulation, it seems implausible that it would test at SPF4, according to the founders. I do agree!
Some of our patients rely on UltraViolette sunscreen, so it seems like a good time to add them into our sunscreen review.
In case you're wondering, what started as a South Korean and Japanese sunscreen review following my travels earlier in the year, has now expanded to include a comparison of all sunscreens available at Skin Temple. And we're not limiting the review to personal opinion either.
Our Visia machine is being put to the test, objectively, with each of the sunscreens, which is actually what it was originally designed for.
Looks like we'll be adding UltraViolette to the Visia analysis too.

Peak consumer group Choice has defended its sunscreen testing and publicly released all tests in the face of criticism about its methods.

Sunscreen testing by CHOICE finds many popular brands don’t meet their SPF claims, but experts say sunscreens remain safe and effective.

The illegal botox poisoning scandal is also linked to Victoria, dating back to 2024. How thoroughly unsurprising!

Please ensure that your practitioner uses only TGA registered botulinum toxin products..in Australia that's either Botox, Dysport, Xeomin or Letybo.

Make sure that your practitioner draws the product from a vial kept in (&returned to) a vaccine fridge, in front of you, not preprepared syringes from their handbag! Yes, this has been described to me!

It's a cosmetic jungle out there.

We know that there's many, many more incidents happening that patients are too embarrassed about to report. The fake qualifications. The fake botox and/or fillers bought from the internet or brought in from Bali.

Being left on a ventilator in ICU, for weeks or months, is a tragic outcome that can have other consequences too.

Authorities in NSW are investigating whether recent cases of suspected botulism — caused by unregulated anti-wrinkle products administered in a private home — are linked to a similar case in Victoria late last year.

What's going on out there is literally quite criminal.

Please, ensure that your injectables practitioner is a genuinely qualified medical practitioner, using TGA registered products. Not sourced from the internet!

NSW Health issued a warning on Friday night urging the community to only receive anti-wrinkle injections from an authorised practitioner.

Lots of discussions, but will anything change?
