I am travelling to faraway distant lands for 2 months. Which, while exciting for me, is not ideal for my lovely clients, who will not have the opportunity to enjoy a treatment from me while I am gone.
This Friday will be my last treating day at .wellness.collective.
I have a couple of appointments left for this Thursday and the following Tuesday at .fairfield.

Be sure to book in soon if you would like to see me before I leave.

Otherwise I'll see you in August 🙂

Please excuse my boasting but.....
Today one of my clients told me that I have her the best massage she'd ever had, and she's had hundreds.
Nothing like a bit of ego stroking to make me feel like I'm doing well in life.

Still spots available tomorrow at .wellness.collective
Book in now

The neck and shoulders are probably my favourite parts of the body to work on. They are often the parts that need the most work, or bodies did not evolve to stare at phones and computer screens for hours on end. Those poor muscles hold so much tension and that needs to be released. Book in with me at Oshun and you'll be amazed at the difference it can make in your life.

Fascia forms a Web throughout our bodies, if it was classified as a bodily system, it would be the biggest.

I like to start every treatment with a myofascial release to ease the pressure that this Web is holding on our bodies. I often struggle to succinctly describe exactly what this process is. So I thought I'd pass on some words from John Barnes, who is responsible for developing the technique I use:

"Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests."

What is Fascia?
This is something I'm often asked when using Myofascial release techniques.
The answer can be simple, yet it can go deep, like fascia.
Basically fascia is the in between. It's the connective tissue holding everything else in place. If it was counted as a bodily system, it would be the biggest, it is inside all of the other systems.
According to (where I appropriated this image from): ".. researchers have begun to take a fresh look at fascia and are finding that it is anything but an inert wrapping. Instead, it is the site of biological activity that explains some of the links between lifestyle and health. It may even be a new type of sensory organ. “There appears to be more going on in the fascia than is commonly appreciated,” says Karl Lewis..."

My belief is that we store old traumas, injuries and emotions in our fascia, and until they're released our bodies will remain in discomfort, holding the body in the old patterns.
This is why I like to start every treatment with a Myofascial release, to invite the body to let go of the old stuff and move forward. It helps the muscles to truly heal.

New business cards have landed.
I really feel like I've kicked a goal.
Now the next time somebody asks if I have a business card, I can confidently say "yes!"

As we say goodbye to the warmer months, please enjoy this sunflower from my garden.

A last little salute to the sun before the winter comes.
I am now offering mobile massage, so you don't even have to leave the cosiness of home to receive the healing.
