Ginger, garlic, chilli chicken with bok choy and rice.
Serves 4

Grate 6 cm piece of ginger and 4 garlic cloves.
Sauté in 1-2 tbs coconut oil and add 1 tsp chilli flakes and 800g chicken thigh cut in 3 cm pieces.

Brown in batches until cooked and add 2 tbs honey and 1-2 tbs of soy sauce.

Take chicken out and add bok choy to the pan with 1 tbs soy sauce and 1 tsp sesame oil.

Cook rice and serve with chicken and vegetables.

We’ve had home gyms in every house we’ve lived in and music has been such a major part of those days.

My kids have grown up around mum and dad training and often would play or ride scooters or bikes outside while the music was blaring.

We all have great memories of some of the iconic artists we used to play ( mainly back in the pre Spotify days when you played the same CD to death)

One of those artists was Anastasia.

It was so cool to be at her concert with my girls reliving the memories and singing along to her songs that I can vividly remember working out to.

Why do you train?

For me it’s a mixture of wanting to look a certain way and knowing it’s good for me.

I’ve trained in weights since I was 18.

My boyfriend ( now husband) introduced me to his world of weight training and I’ve never looked back.

I have him to thank for a life of feeling strong, fit and full of energy.

I’ve had 4 kids and bounced back after each one.

I know this is because I had a foundation of fitness.

I’ve seen other women come through their pregnancies and bounce back quickly because they too had built a good foundation.

I know that weight training and cardio builds that base of resiliency in life and it’s not too late to start at any age.

Life is meant to be lived with vibrancy, not merely getting through.

The older we get, the more important it is to move and get strong.

I can’t emphasise this enough.

BodyVision is made up of so many strong women building their strong foundation and I’m proud of each one.

Week by week adding that little bit more to the base, creating strength, fitness, confidence and energy because we train.💪

I look forward to breakfast every morning.

I’m ready for it.

I feel hungry when I wake up and can’t wait to eat my bowl of deliciousness every morning.🥣

At the moment I’m having overnight oats for my breakfast.

They are creamy and sweet but not too sweet and keep me full and satisfied until lunch time.

I’m a sweet rather than savoury person for breakfast.

My daughter loves her savoury sourdough topping of avocado, feta, red onion, tomato and an egg on top.

Breakfast energises me and I love the way I feel doing a workout having eaten well.

I know I’m getting the right nutrients in to fuel me while lifting weights or doing my cardio.

Can’t exactly sprint up a hill on an empty stomach.🥵

I can’t believe I used to fast until lunch time and workout , run classes on no energy.😓

So glad those days are gone!

Our strength training programs run to school terms.

We push hard and focus on getting stronger as the weeks go by.

After each program we have 1-2 weeks of recovery.

Sometimes it’s lighter weights and body weight sessions, sometimes it’s pilates and other times it’s pure stretching.

This time it is stretching and mobility.🙆‍♂️

We are all feeling the effects of winter, the tightness and tension from the cold months.

We need a stretch!

After 2 days, the body feels lighter.🤩

It’s a reset for mind and body and next week we start term 3.

Deload week commences - higher reps and lighter weights and then it’s progressive overload for the rest of the term.

What a great morning to finish off our term 2 program!

So many new personal bests from lots of our clients for bench press, squats, RDL’s and db chest press.

These girls today did their best lifts on Romanian deadlifts.

Showing up and being consistent brings progress and if you’re not progressing you’re not getting stronger!

Don’t be afraid to lift heavy.

You build up to it, it doesn’t happen overnight , it’s a process .

I get so much satisfaction seeing this kind of progress knowing that even 1 year ago these numbers were very different.

A common complaint I hear from women over 50 is that they have put on weight and don’t really know why.

Then they try to lose weight with no success.

There are many reasons we put on weight as we age but one big factor is losing muscle mass and being under muscled.

This combined with eating under the amount you should be to fuel your body.

This sends the body into a state of stress as it’s simply not getting the energy it needs.

Then of course it’s what you put in your mouth- the quality of the food ( whole foods vs processed food ratios)

These were Jane’s top issues and we fixed them as we worked together to improve how her body used energy.

We improved her nutrition by balancing her macro nutrients and meal planning.

She worked consistently in the gym and put on muscle and this helped her to be able to eat more and not put on weight.

Jane is strong and fit with good daily habits in place and I’m so glad that she rang me that day to organise a trial week.

She hasn’t looked back and continues her healthy lifestyle practises that she has learnt and adopted from her time at BodyVision.

Strength training and weight loss coaching are my specialties.

Body composition should be the goal for women rather than fixating on weighing and a number on the scales.

You’ll be miserable if all you do is focus on the number you were in your 20’s.

Do yourself a favour and get to the gym and lift some heavy weights each week.

Look at the major drop of body fat from right to left in these photos!

There is only 1 kg difference between these photos but a HEAP of fatloss and therefore body composition changes.

It’s so important to take photos and measurements as well as tracking weight on the scales when starting a workout program and/or diet.

You would be really disappointed in just losing 1 kg if all you did to measure your success was weighing yourself.

I think that even ditching the scales is sometimes a good idea.

To create change in fat and muscle ratios you need weight training and a good nutrition plan to follow whether you are wanting to tidy it up and grow some muscle or get rid of some fat once and for all.

look at the amount of fat lost in the stomach area and cellulite off the legs.

You’d be very happy with this result wouldn’t you?

Lose the fat the right way, lean up your body by building muscle and dieting the fat off to reveal the muscle underneath.

If all you’re doing is slashing calories or dropping food groups then you’ll just be a smaller version of yourself but you’ll be skinny fat with less muscle and more fat.

Then you’ll put more fat back on afterwards because the food intake was way lower than your body could sustain.

I specialise in getting women leaner, stronger and healthier not to mention sexier for the hotter months so they don’t have to hide under layers of clothing.

Body Vision is a Boutique Health & Fitness studio in Bulleen, Melbourne. It is a one stop shop for all your training needs as well as nutrition, emotional and mental support for women especially over the age of 40.

Classes include Pilates, Barre Fusion, Toning, Circuit, Semi Private and Personal Training.

Michelle offers Wellness Coaching and Self Development programs as well as Nutritional programs all under the EAT TRAIN LIVE umbrella.

These Programs are designed to support the client to get the best outcome for their needs, their goals and their life, addressing limiting beliefs, obstacles and sabotaging behaviours in all areas that are holding them back in life.
