Looking into this new year with its 365 days, I ask you 1 question-

What needs changing around your health and fitness?

Thinking about your answer, are you setting goals?

Let me introduce a better concept that can help you make changes for the better.

Setting goals can be useful but something I’ve learnt to do in the last 5 years is to set standards.

These aren’t outcomes based and therefore easy to give up on.

These are intrinsic, they are who you ARE.

You need to decide who that is and work with her/him.

If you have a certain standard of how you conduct yourself in public eg, don’t swear, then this is your inner navigation.

Standards in health are no different.

They become part of who you ARE rather than what you do sometimes to work for a goal.

You set your own standards and keep adding to them, eg I’m going to walk outside in the morning and evening for 20 mins each time- daily.

Once this standard is set, introduce another one-I’m eating primarily whole foods because I want to have better health.

When you know what you want to be then it’s easy to live those standards.

Goals come and go, your non negotiable standards stay.

Protein is talked about all over social media.

Yes it’s important to eat enough through the day but I find in my coaching that most people also forget or down play the importance of fibre.

Fibre helps keep you fuller for longer along with protein.

Fibre slows down carbohydrate absorption which helps keep your blood sugar stable and this helps with energy dips and those pesky cravings.

A diet rich in fibre supports healthy digestion and a better functioning metabolism

By eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, pulses, grains, even popcorn and dark chocolate through the day, you will reach the recommended
20-25 g of fibre each day.

This was the last exercise of my full body workout.

It looks easy enough but it got me good.

Why?

Because when you have your core properly engaged, your abs are on 🔥

Draw your belly button down towards your spine and ribs to hips to truly activate those deep core muscles.

This will help to increase your core stability and power and support your posture.

Elevated Toe tap crunches for the win 👌

How do you keep the results you work hard for with your body?

By not letting go of the habits that got you there.

When you get complacent and go back to old habits, the weight can start to creep up and before you know it, you’re 4 kgs heavier.

What I’ve experienced is how easy it is to undo the work in a short amount of time.

What I’ve also learnt is that to keep your results you need to focus on lifestyle habits and identity shifts.

Who is the person that stays lean and doesn’t yo yo in weight?

How does she live most of the time?

How does she show up for herself?

I’m not talking about never having fun or living a boring life.

I’m talking about 80-90% of your week being consistent, healthy habits and the other 10-20% having ‘fun’ whatever that is for you ( mainly food wise because that seems to be most people’s issue)

This formula is going to work more than being strict for 2 weeks then bingeing then strict again for months and years at a time.

This is frustrating and will keep you in a perpetual cycle of stagnation.

Having a base level of consistent movement and exercise with good eating habits will keep you close to your ideal body( whatever that is for you)and have great health.

Moving too far away from this base will mean a lot more work for you later on and not many people want to climb that hill.

Identity is important-

I am that person who walks everyday.

I am that person who eats primarily whole foods every day and not out of a packet.

I am that person who prioritises sleep.

I am that person who trains to get strong and confident.

I am that person who works on their mindset and mental health.

I am that person who can enjoy life and still be healthy focused.

That’s how you’ll keep the results you work hard for😍

Happy New Year from myself, Alex and our soon to be trainer Kate🥰

I love the family involvement🩷

My kids came to the gym with me and participated in classes as kids and now help me out as trainers (and apprentice trainers)😍

Let’s all celebrate the year that’s ended, looking at all the things we are proud of and learning from all the good and not so good times.

Let’s take that into 2026 stronger and better than ever!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳

Training vs exercising…..what’s the difference?

Training is a measured approach similar to how an athlete approaches their regimen.

It’s more of a measured approach, recording the weight you use and the reps and using those numbers to get better each week.

Those numbers drive you to progress even a little each workout.

There are structured rest periods and recovery days.

This ensures progress.

If you get bored with weight training it’s because you’re not being motivated to beat your numbers each week, to get better.

You’re exercising- there’s no real structure to your workouts.

There’s nothing to beat because you do different things each week with no real plan.

Exercising is great but training is better.

Training builds much needed muscle.

Exercising moves your body, training builds it.

So if you are wondering why don’t I look like someone who trains , it’s because you’ve got no structure to your exercising.

I find that boring.

It was a game changer for me in the gym when I actually started training and watched my body transform and get strong.

If this motivates you and you want to learn how to train - message me.

February is half price on our 2 class option for former BodyVision clients.

You already know me, now get to know what it feels like to train for results.💪

I’m getting in early so it’s not a new year-new you kinda thing although I love a bit of reflection as the year comes to an end.

This is my reminder every day of who I want to be, how I want to look and behave.

I know what ‘her’ is for me.

How about you?

I’ve been thinking about that quote by Kate Moss in the 90’s- Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.

I’ve reflected on it and yes it does have some alarming connotations of distorted eating .

We heard the rumours of the unhealthy lifestyle she lived to stay that ‘skinny’

There is a way to understand what she meant about nothing tastes as good though…..

Food is delicious, don’t get me wrong and I’m a big foodie, that’s one big reason I strength train- so I can eat more but I have noticed that it’s very fleeting, it doesn’t last long. You enjoy it for seconds.

If that’s what you prefer then that’s ok but for me, I have certain goals for myself.

When it comes to a goal- that lasts.

The feeling of accomplishment lasts.

So, with this said- I’m changing the quote to say- Nothing tastes as good as being in control feels.

FOR ME.

When I feel in control of myself, my body and my goals, I feel great satisfaction that lasts longer than a piece of cake or bag of chips.

When I am in control. I can prioritise what I love to eat and then get back to normal routine.

Whenever I’ve approached my life with I’m going to eat whatever I want whenever I want it hasn’t ended well. ( unless I was under 30 years of age)

I feel the best when that sense of purpose is forefront of mind.

That’s not to say I don’t enjoy my food, as I said. I’m a foodie!

BUT

I know myself and I feel best when I am in control of my eating habits.

I feel healthier, not bloated or lethargic, have more energy and like me more when I’m not eating like the worlds going to end tomorrow.

These girls were on a high at this photo shoot.

They also were in control and felt amazing after they had accomplished their goals.

The smiles say it all!

How about you?

What would you add to the quote?

Nothing tastes as good as………….feels.

A reminder that you can still have a great time during the Christmas season without blowing out all your hard work.

You just need a little thought and plan going in to the day.
Eg,I’m going to eat 1 plate of food not 2.
I’ll have the dessert but not the cheese platter
I’ll have 3 drinks, not 6.

This is NOT the time to throw caution to the wind and have a free for all.

It’s a time to be festive, have fun with family and friends, eat and drink but if you want to keep your 2025 progress, you’ll need to be measured in your approach to the holidays.

The amount of people who underestimate their food intake is in the majority.

Have a great time this Christmas but stay in your healthy lane the most.🩷

19/12/2025

2025 has seen AMAZING strength gains for our clients💪

Girls putting 8-30 kgs on their 1 rep max records.

That’s how much you can lift for just 1 rep.

Consistency and effort each week chipping away brings results!

I’m so proud of my girls.

They have worked hard and now deserve a great Christmas break.🎄🎄

Message if you would like these sort of benefits because honestly, if you’re weight training and not getting stronger- what are you doing?

MERRY CHRISTMAS

ITS BEEN A PLEASURE WORKING WITH YOU ALL IN 2025.
