Kicking the sugar habit is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your health and your mood. The blood sugar rollercoaster that sugar takes you on serves no-one.
Being addicted to sugar and flour is not an emotional eating disorder. It’s a biological disorder, driven by hormones and neurotransmitters that fuel sugar and carb cravings — leading to uncontrolled overeating. This is not a limited phenomenon.
It’s the reason nearly 70 percent of Americans and 40 percent of kids are overweight.
By now you know that sugar isn’t just empty calories — it’s addictive, toxic and the biggest cause of chronic disease.
A little is ok but not in the massive quantities, about half a pound per day consumed by most American.
Think of sugar as a recreational treat. Something to use occasionally but in small amounts. I mean, I like red wine but I don’t drink it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
How about zero calorie sweeteners? No calories, no problem? Well, turns out artificial sweeteners trick the brain and destroy your gut flora all leading to weight gain and type 2 diabetes.
If you plan on cutting down on sugar some things that may help is:
- Eat real food.
- Eat a nutritious breakfast.
- Reduce stress with meditation, deep breathing, etc.
- Exercise daily.
- Check for food intolerances.
- Get good quality sleep.
- Implement crave- cutting supplements.
