Happy 14th Independence Day to the Republic of South Sudan.

On this Independence Day, we at Nas Recovery Centre recognise the complex emotions that arise as we celebrate the resilience of the South Sudanese people while acknowledging the ongoing struggles with war, displacement, and the plight of refugees.

We understand these challenges can lead to feelings of sadness, anxiety, and uncertainty.

Our commitment is to provide compassionate support and resources to help individuals navigate challenges and strengthen resilience.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to the following helplines:

- Blue Knot Helpline and Redress Support Service Free and confidential trauma-informed counselling and support.

- Headspace: National online or phone mental health support for young people aged 12 to 25 and their families.

- MensLine Australia: Free professional 24/7 telephone counselling for men concerned about their mental health.

- Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling: Leading provider of high-quality mental health support for veterans and their families.

- To access free counselling, please speak with your GP or employer to inquire about Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).

Today, we stand in solidarity with all South Sudanese, honouring the sacrifices made and the ongoing journey of healing and hope.

NRC was built by and for our community, a place where people feel understood, where culture is recognised as a strength, and where healing happens without fear or judgment.

We are committed to creating a community where all individuals have access to effective mental health and AOD support, empowering them to lead healthier, fulfilling lives.

To continue operating, we must raise $50,000 by 30 June 2025 to secure our venue for the next two years.

This funding will cover:
*Annual lease fee: $23,400 (community rate for a not-for-profit)
*Utilities (electricity, water, internet): $7,000
*Cleaning and waste removal: $5,000
*Essential equipment and furnishings: $14,600 (including chairs, tables, IT equipment, and kitchen essentials)

Help us sustain it and make a tax-deductible donation today!

By donating, you help us continue our mission to support individuals experiencing addiction, mental health, and the often related consequences of poverty, homelessness, and justice involvement.

Every dollar counts and directly impacts our community.

On National Sorry Day, we remember and reflect on the mistreatment and forced removal of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal children, known as the Stolen Generations.

Nas Recovery Centre acknowledges the profound impact of these atrocities and their ongoing effects.

Today and always, we honour the resilience and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We stand for a collective “SORRY” and advocate for actions that promote reconciliation and healing.

Support is available through 13YARN.

Message from Our Founder and CEO ⬇️

Happy International Volunteer Week 🎉

The heart of our success at Nas Recovery Centre is our volunteers. They are behind and in front of the life-changing stories you may have heard or experienced in your community.

In 2023, I took a chance to make a difference by establishing a charity organization propelled by a deep passion for giving hope, and our dedicated community members echoed that sentiment: “Us too!” They stepped up to volunteer.

Today, I want to share how their generosity has transformed lives. Those who hit rock bottom have found their way into recovery, and families in distress and overwhelmed have discovered hope and resilience.

To the volunteers walking this journey with me, I am honoured to work alongside you. You will always be part of our story as we continue to be a beacon of hope for the marginalized and underserved.
