Great article from a very trusted source in nutrition science.

Public health resources often recommend brown rice instead of white as a ‘healthy swap’. But what if you prefer white rice?

Too often in food and nutrition we fall into the trap of taking advice from slim and beautiful people - because we feel like their advice and choices must be linked their slimness and beautifulness.

I have five degrees in food, nutrition and human health AND I am a chonky lady. I'm not here to sell you on, or justify, my eating habits or my body. I'm not bringing you the next hack, diet, life style change or un-diet. I'm not even here to give advice. The most powerful thing I can do, is share information and perspectives, my qualifications and experience mean I can join different dots, I can share different views and I can challenge biases and the status quo.

I won't apologize or make excuses for my body, it's where I live and I am grateful for all it does.

Haters will say I can't be an expert because I'm chonky, that says more about them than it does about me.

If I was unscrupulous I could starve myself and sell you a diet. I know all the tricks used to shrink and sell. But I won't do it because health is more than weight, life is more than weight, and you are more than what you eat.

My body is not your business and it is not my business plan.

Such an important message. I also believe healthy eating isn't about perfection, focus on weight only outcomes, clean eating (whatever that even is), missing entire food groups (unless there is a physiological reason). It's about giving your unique body everything it needs to perform at it's best, and to meet your unique needs - including emotion, social and psychological needs.

Donut judge other peoples food choices- especially if they didn’t ask you (sorry but not sorry for the pun)

There are many foods, many people, and many ways to eat.

We are all living different lives, with different priorities, means & choices.

You aren’t superior if you choices are “cleaner”, more expensive or even more aligned with guidelines.

Pat yourself on the back when you feel like you are doing well (I like to celebrate all the small victories) – but if you feel tempted to shame others, jog right on.

Did you know that about 1 in 2 Aussies will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85?
Today is , and we wanted to remind everyone, how important good nutrition is for reducing cancer risk.
Here’s the World Cancer Research Fund’s recommendations on what to eat to reduce your risk of cancer:

✔️ Eat more plants: Make whole grains, fruit, veg and beans/lentils part of your diet, and limit your red and processed meat intake
✔️ Eat Your Vitamins: Try to get your nutrients through food alone, rather than supplements
✔️ Eat less fast food, and other processed foods high in fat, starches or sugars, including sugary drinks.
✔️ Reduce your alcohol intake
