This was Day 10 of COVID recovery: some gentle nature therapy, walking without raising my heart rate or sweating, sitting down often, having healthy snacks and lots of fluids, allowing the gentle sounds, beautiful scenery, sunlight and fresh air to work their magic. I am passionate about helping people recover from long and short COVID and am being diligent about taking my own medicine. It’s six weeks from the first symptoms to gradually return to full activity in my opinion, particularly when it comes to physical exercise. It’s frustrating but worth it.

Today I did a small, private ritual to honour the start of my “Second Spring”, also known as menopause. In Chinese Medicine we use the term “Second Spring” to reflect the nature of new growth and possibilities available to menstruating people once that time of life ends. In Japanese it is called “koneki” which means renewal and energy. I like these perspectives - they are empowering, liberating and optimistic while still acknowledging change. 🌸🌸🌸. This one’s for the Melbourne peeps where every second person seems to be coughing right now. 😷 Unless your gut can’t handle the fructose EAT ALL THE PEARS! 🍐🍐🍐They moisten and nourish your lungs - a dry lung is a vulnerable lung. Even if you you’re making copious amounts of phlegm, pears are your friend. Extra yum gently stewed with ginger and cinnamon and a dash of water - no sugar required.
