Pre-season is about more than fitness — it’s about prevention, preparation, and performance.

Our pre-season injury screening helps identify individual movement patterns, strength deficits, previous injury history, and areas that may need extra attention before training loads increase.

The boys from the Point Cook Sharks Football Club were in last week completing their pre-season screens as part of setting the foundation for the year ahead.

By screening early, we can make smarter training decisions, individualise programs, and reduce the risk of avoidable injuries as the season progresses.

The goal?
More players available, more consistent training, and a stronger, more resilient Sharks group ready for the start of the season. 🦈🏉

Preparation starts now. Bring on Round 1!

Form 1 – Banded Row
Form 2 – Single Arm Dumbbell Row
Form 3 – Barbell Row
Form 4 – Landmine Single Arm Row

Not every form suits every body — and that’s completely normal.
Arm length, shoulder mobility, core strength, lower back history, and training experience all influence which variation is most effective and safe for you.

That’s why we offer different forms in the same class. We adapt the movement to the individual — not the individual to the movement 🔥

Strong looks different on everybody.

Once quadriceps activation is improving, we start reinforcing it through functional movement.

The sit-to-stand is a key early exercise in ACL rehab. It encourages the quads to work through range, promotes symmetrical weight-bearing, and builds confidence loading the knee in a controlled way.

This movement directly translates to everyday tasks like standing up from a chair and is an important step toward restoring normal gait and independence.

👉 Getting the quads firing early with functional exercises sets the foundation for stronger, safer progressions later in ACL rehab.

Late-stage ankle sprain rehab focuses on restoring full strength, dynamic stability, and sport-specific control.
At this stage, we’re progressing to single-leg loading, plyometrics, and multidirectional drills to ensure the ankle can tolerate real-world demands — not just basic movement.
Rehab doesn’t stop when pain settles. It ends when performance is restored.

After an ACL injury, restoring quadriceps activation is a major priority in rehab.

One key assessment we use in physiotherapy is checking for quadriceps lag — this assesses whether the quad can fully straighten the knee and hold it there against gravity.

Following an ACL injury, quad lag is common due to swelling, pain, and neuromuscular inhibition. When the quads aren’t firing effectively, knee stability and movement control are compromised.

👉 Why this matters: resolving quad lag is essential for returning to normal walking without gait aids, improving knee confidence, and safely progressing through ACL rehab.

Jefferson curls are a mobility-strength exercise that develops segmental spinal control, hamstring length, and load tolerance through flexion.
Performed slowly with light to moderate load, they teach the spine to move safely under tension instead of avoiding flexion altogether - a key reason Ethan keeps them in his program.
