I was looking for words to express my current luteal phase feelings… and I stumbled across this poem by Emily Shea.
‘Sometimes I forget
the joy of being women
and demote myself to body
bloated and blimp-like
Luteal phase
hungry for carbs
and slow at the gym
forgetting how strong I felt
two weeks ago
ovulating and alive
slim and strong
I was fun too
dancing in my kitchen
full of energy
I forget a women is all seasons
in one month
we wax and wane as the moon
it is no wonder
that we are mystery and motion
life and lethargy
we create and rest and shed and rise
so cyclical
aligned with nature
the joy of being women’
