Confidence is often treated as a mindset. Something you either carry into a session or you do not.

What the evidence suggests is more interesting: confidence is a measurable physical state, one that changes how your muscles fire, how pain registers, how load distributes through your joints, and how quickly your nervous system commits to a decision.

The implications for rehabilitation and performance are significant. And largely underused in clinical practice.

Elite Akademy's latest piece works through the physiology in full.

Most people only pay attention to movement once pain appears. But long before injury develops, the body has already started adapting. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Coordination changes, compensation patterns emerge, and efficiency begins to decline.

The earlier these changes are recognised, the easier they are to address.

What is involved?
• One 90-minute laboratory session
• Simple lifting tasks using a light weight (6–8 kg)

• Non-invasive assessment using motion capture, EMG, and video analysis
