Nurses and midwives deserve financial relief as ongoing conflicts send fuel prices soaring.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation is calling on the Australian government to make hospital parking tax deductible, to assist nurses and midwives with ongoing cost of living concerns.

As conflict intensifies in Lebanon, attacks on healthcare are rising, with devastating consequences.
Since 2 March, the World Health Organization has verified:
- 77 attacks on healthcare
- 53 deaths
- 117 injuries
In recent days, nine paramedics were killed while responding to emergencies.
Lebanese authorities report even higher figures — with hospitals, ambulances and health workers increasingly caught in the crossfire.
This is a clear violation of international humanitarian law — and it must stop.

Costs are hitting nurses and midwives harder than most.

While many workers can cut expenses by working from home, frontline health professionals don’t have that option. They still have to show up day, night and weekends absorbing the full cost of fuel, tolls, parking, rent, mortgages and energy bills just to do their jobs.

In rural and remote areas, it’s even tougher, with some driving hundreds of kilometres a day to care for their communities.
