It's National Reconciliation Week and this year’s theme, 'All In', is a call to action. It reminds us that reconciliation takes ongoing commitment, not just today, but every day.

This is a time for all of us to reflect on our shared history and the role we all play in building stronger, more respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians.

Throughout the week, we’re hosting events across our organisation to learn, reflect and listen to First Nations voices. Because being 'All In' means turning commitment into action.

Reconciliation isn't limited to one week. It's an ongoing responsibility and part of the future we choose to build together.

The gut and brain are uniquely connected, meaning your gut health can have a direct impact on your mental wellbeing—and vice versa. So, your everyday lifestyle and diet decisions make a difference.

“Because the gut and brain are constantly communicating, you need to focus on implementing consistent, feasible habits, rather than any quick fixes,” says Vanessa Morando, Dietitian at Australian Unity.

Talking to Nine.com.au, Michelle says that—despite working in aged care—she delayed discussions with her parents about home care until they were at crisis point. She’s not alone.

New research from Australian Unity shows that more than a million Australians have been forced to make emergency aged care decisions for their parents, and 70 per cent of Australians say they’ve waited too long making aged care decisions.

It’s why we’ve published the Ask Your Folks guide–a simple and easy-to-navigate booklet designed to provide practical tips for how to start a conversation about aged care planning with your older loved ones before an incident occurs.

It’s just about opening the conversation about options and choice to ensure people can retain control as they age.

There's been a lot of noise since the federal government announced plans to reduce the private health insurance rebate for over-65s. It's understandable, because for many older Australians health cover is one of their most important financial commitments.

But whatever your life stage, the fundamentals of getting value from your health insurance don't change.

Our CEO of Health Insurance, Rebecca Harwood, spoke with The Senior this week and her advice is straightforward: start by reviewing what you have, identify what you're not using and speak with your insurer before making any changes.

The changes won't take effect until April 2027. There's time to make a considered decision...not a rushed one.

Entering your 50s can be a wake-up call when it comes to your health, but it can also be an opportunity to focus on healthy habits that matter.

Australian Unity’s Lenette Gear recently appeared on the Prime Time podcast with Bec Wilson - Epic Retirement to speak on why caring about your health should be proactive, not reactive—especially as life changes.

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the contribution of millions of volunteers across the country.

Volunteering doesn’t just benefit others. The Australian Unity Wellbeing Index shows a strong link between volunteering and personal wellbeing.

At Australian Unity, our people receive a day of volunteer leave each year, with many choosing to support our charity partners.

This year’s theme is a timely reminder to get involved. Support a cause close to your heart…it may give back more than you expect.

For many families, conversations about care can feel daunting. But they can be an important first step to help your parents get the support they need and deserve.

Home health and care services are often the starting point. They can help your parents continue to live actively and independently, right where they want to be: at home.

Reframing the conversation can make all the difference. Instead of focusing on services, talk about outcomes: what day‑to‑day life could look like with extra support, and how it can strengthen independence rather than take it away.

Renewing the same health insurance policy year after year may feel easy—but as your life changes, your cover should too.

In the latest Good Weekend Magazine, Australian Unity's Lenette Gear shared why it's important to regularly review your health insurance.

“It’s not just how much you’re paying, but what you’re paying for that really matters,” says Lenette.

The goal? Ensuring your cover supports your wellbeing now and into the future with clear benefits that reflect where you are today.

A timely reminder that informed choices now can support your wellbeing and make a meaningful difference that helps you live and age well.
