We’re thrilled to announce that Interconnection Australia is officially registered as a Donation Partner in the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic)! This means you can now donate your eligible drink container refunds to support our initiatives—helping both the environment and our mission at the same time! 🌏💚

What is the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme?
CDS Vic allows Victorians to return eligible drink containers (bottles, cans, and cartons) to designated collection points and receive a 10-cent refund per item. Rather than keeping the refund, you can choose to donate it to a registered charity or community organisation—like Interconnection Australia! 🙌

How to Donate to Interconnection Australia:
✅ Return your eligible containers to an official refund collection point—find your nearest one here: https://cdsvic.org.au/how-to-make-a-return
✅ Scan our Donation Partner ID barcode at the collection site
✅ Or manually enter our Donation Partner ID: C2000031020 when returning your containers

Why is July the best month of the year?! Two reasons...

1. Winter Camp is starting on July 2nd - who's excited?!

2. ICA is back in the Grill'd Local Matters Draw!! These holidays, go enjoy a burger at Grill'd Burwood and be sure to place your token in the ICA jar - It's simple!

*Alternatively, go enjoy a burger this week, keep your token and give it to one of the ICA leaders at Winter Camp - we will then deposit it on your behalf!

ICA has been accepted as part of Grill'd Local Matters - Every month, each Grill'd restaurant splits $500 between three groups doing amazing work in the community - and that’s where YOUR vote counts.

For each burger purchase you will receive one token - make sure you drop this token into the ICA jar and TA-DA!

It has been a massive 656 days since Winter Camp 2019 with bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic preventing us from running our programs.
However today, InterConnection Australia is very proud to announce that WE'RE BACK and will be hosting our Winter Camp at Camp Mallana from Tuesday 29 June to Friday 2 July 2021. More information will be made available next week but we are all looking forward to reconnecting with you and continuing to make a positive impact and a real difference! Stay tuned...

R U OK? Day is an important day in the Australian community calendar. By giving someone your time, and the opportunity to share what they’re feeling, you’re giving and showing that person something invaluable; that you care about how they are feeling and genuinely want to make a connection.
This year’s R U OK? Day theme is “There’s more to say after R U OK?”.

We know 2020 has been incredibly difficult. As an organisation, we want to increase our discussions around mental and physical health and share ideas that champion our wellbeing. One area we know we need to focus on is our level of confidence and capability to check in on each other in a meaningful way. So there has never been a more important time for us to take the time to learn and connect with the R U OK? conversation message.

Today is Wear It Purple Day, an opportunity to bring visibility to the many issues our LGBTQI+ and rainbow youth face, along with showing support, particularly amongst tough times like we find ourselves in today.

At ICA we extend our deepest love, care, support and acknowledgement of all LGBTQI+ people.

"For all rainbow youth, we want you to know you have the right to be proud of who you are today and every day, and those wearing purple support you. You are powerful, you are welcome, and you are loved. Happy Wear it Purple Day- you deserve it."

We have been closely following the bush fire situation in the Gippsland region and have been in regular contact with the Camp Mallana property manager who has kindly provided updates in conjunction with the information available through the Victorian Emergency app and website.

Based on the information available to us, we have taken the unfortunate decision to cancel Summer Camp 2020 which was scheduled to commence next week (7-10 January 2020). Whilst the immediate fire threat is relatively low, the air quality in the area is very poor and the adverse impact our camp program will have on a region whose resources (fuel, groceries, mobile phone coverage etc.) are already stretched are all factors which contributed to our decision.

In 17 years this is the first time InterConnection Australia has had to cancel a camp program, but the safety of our young people who attend our camps and our volunteer leadership team is paramount and cannot be compromised.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our decision and look forward to seeing you at our next camp program.
