Cardiovascular Health

Your heart is a muscle that needs exercise to stay strong! Aerobic activities like brisk walking, jogging, or swimming can improve cardiovascular fitness.

Here's how to boost heart health:

🚶‍♂️ Start with moderate-intensity workouts like a brisk 30-minute walk most days of the week.
🌟 Gradually increase intensity or duration to challenge your heart.
🎵 Include variety in your workouts to keep it fun and engaging, from dancing to cycling.

Let's keep our hearts happy and healthy! 💓

The role of exercise in promoting good general health, and helping to prevent heart disease, strokes and diabetes is well established. No wonder, then, that long‑distance running keeps growing in popularity. Popular tracks and parks have never been busier, with groups in stretchy Lycra and fitness trackers on their wrists. The internet is awash with exercise videos, while figures earlier this year showed that gym memberships have climbed to a record 11.5m. The 16.9% of people aged 16 or over in Britain who belong to a gym is one of the highest proportions in Europe.

☀️ Meet Ally Johnson ☀️ Berwick PACE Partner and Exercise Physiologist

I have 4 years of experience in exercise prescription and delivery, with 2 years focused on clinical exercise prescription after completing my Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at ACU. Paediatric Psychology FAQ - “If someone sees a psychologist, does it mean something is ‘wrong’ with them?”

Seeing a psychologist doesn’t mean there is something “wrong” with your child.

It simply means your child is getting extra support to help them grow, learn, and manage any challenges they might be facing — just like seeing a speech therapist for language development, a physical therapist for movement, or a tutor for extra help with schoolwork.

Seeing psychologist is a way of looking after mental and emotional well-being. It’s a positive, proactive step that can help children thrive, not a sign that something is wrong.

If your child is experiencing challenges with behaviour, emotions, or development, our Paediatric Psychology team at PACE Health Management is here to help. Early support can make a lasting difference in your child’s life.

Occupational therapy (OT) for children focuses on helping them develop the skills they need for daily activities, play, learning, and overall development. Children may experience challenges due to developmental delays, disabilities, or difficulties with sensory processing, motor skills, or social-emotional regulation. Occupational therapists are uniquely trained to support children in overcoming these barriers, helping them thrive in school, at home, and in social settings.

A Closer Look at Paediatric Speech Pathology session formats, dosage, and activities🗣️

When deciding on the format and dosage or frequency of your speech therapy sessions, many factors are being considered.

Therapy works best when they are based on:

✔️ The person’s developmental level and needs, and current abilities
✔️ The “just-right” level and amount of challenge
✔️ The person’s development, interests, rest and confidence

Therapy sessions may be scheduled weekly or fortnightly, usually about an hour. Shorter sessions that are occasionally more frequent each week may be recommended for more intensive interventions or depending on the person’s schedule, fatigue, and other factors.

The format, session activities, pace, and frequency are designed to support emerging speech or language abilities, to support mastery of skills or generalisation to all relevant social contexts.

If your child is experiencing difficulties with speech, language, or communication, early support can make all the difference. Our Paediatric Speech Pathologist at PACE Health Management work with children and families to build confidence and communication skills for life.
