Olympic champion Caitlin Parker, first Australian female to get a medal at the Olympics in boxing. It's not every day you get to meet an Olympian, let alone teach a champion boxer. Something tells me that she will have the determination and grit for birth! Thank you for trusting me in teaching you the Hypnobirthing Australia program. It was an absolute pleasure

Trusted midwives key to saving lives, improving health, and ensuring respectful care for women and newborns, says new guidance.
The World Health Organization (WHO) today released new guidance to help countries adopt and expand midwifery models of care - where midwives serve as the main care provider for women and babies throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

I'm a firm believer that whichever birth a mother has, we can make it a positive experience.
Of course, circumstances may change, but if all is well, here are some tips to make it a more positive experience.

Choosing supportive caregivers. A key pillar in the Hypnobirthing Australia program.
Before you choose your model of care, have you thought about what type of birth you wish to work towards? A top tip is to choose your caregiver based on this.

There is no doubt that Hypnobirthing costs more to attend than standard hospital classes, but as the saying goes- you get what you pay for.
Buy, why does it cost more?
- The resources. Clients receive comprehensive, evidence based course material, downloads, and tracks that are worth over $200.
- Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioners are specialists within the field. Practitioners attend intensive training and are required to accrue continuing professional development points each year.
- It's personal. It's my own business and therefore you really do receive the personal touch. I make sure that I know my clients, their names, and their background (if they wish to share), plus they receive ongoing support up until baby is born.
So yeah, the Positive Birth Program by Hypnobirthing Australia costs more, but it is an investment that you can't afford to miss. No one regrets doing the classes. Don't miss out. You can only do this birth once. Make it a good experience!

In a spontaneous, physiological birth without any complications, vaginal examinations are not evidence based on assessing a mother's progress of labour.
They can be subjective, increase the chance of infection, and are telling us what the cervix is doing right now, not what it is about to do.
Vaginal examinations, however, may be necessary. For example, if there are concerns about the baby's position or the fetal heart rate.
There are other external signs that caregivers look out for when 'assessing' a mother's progress in labour, such as:
* how she is responding to her surges
* large mucous show is present
* she may have a large vomit
* the purple line may be visible, or the opening of the back (rhombus of michaelis).
* a**l dilation
* birth smell
* saying she needs to push, or seeing involuntary pushing
Have the conversation and ask your caregiver how they assess a mother's progress in labour.

Why I became a Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner
As a Midwife I would often hear of how fearful women were of labour, often stating that they felt they would not ‘cope’ with how ‘painful’ it was ‘going to be.’ I felt that society had somewhat let women down by people sharing their negative birth stories and media outlets often dramatising labour, resulting in women being scared of childbirth instead of feeling excited about the day that they would be meeting their baby.
I felt that something needed to change. So I decided to become a certified Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner. This has allowed me to empower women and change their mindset of labour and birth so that it is a positive; excited instead of fearful of experiencing labour.
I have also used the tools and techniques learnt through the Hypnobirthing Australia course for my own quick and straightforward labour and birth. In fact I am still using them as a new parent when I am having a challenging day.
By attending a Hypnobirthing Australia course I can share with you the knowledge, tools and techniques in having a gentle and calm experience, no matter which way you birth your baby.
I look forward to sharing the positivity of childbirth with you
