National Reconciliation Week 2026
27 May to 3 June

This year’s theme, All In, calls on all Australians to actively contribute to reconciliation through learning, listening, respect, and meaningful action.

At Relationship Matters, we recognise the importance of building stronger relationships, supporting inclusive communities, and continuing the journey towards justice and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a part to play. We’re All In.

National Sorry Day | 26 May

Today, we acknowledge the strength, resilience and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Stolen Generations and the ongoing impacts of forced removal policies on individuals, families and communities.
National Sorry Day is a time to reflect, listen and continue learning. It is also a reminder of the importance of truth telling, healing and walking together toward reconciliation.

At Relationship Matters, we recognise the importance of culturally safe, respectful and inclusive support for all communities. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture and community.

Family Counselling provides a supportive space to work through challenges together, improve communication and strengthen relationships over time.

At Relationship Matters, we support families through parenting pressures, conflict, separation, grief and major life changes.

We also work with children and young people as part of supporting families through difficult periods and life challenges.

Today is IDAHOBIT Day.

A day to stand together against homophobia, biphobia, intersexism and transphobia, and to recognise the importance of safety, inclusion and respect for LGBTQIA+ communities.

May 17th marks the date in 1990 when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the classifications of diseases. Thirty six years on, IDAHOBIT day remains a powerful reminder that the fight for LGBTQIA+ equality continues. We honour resilience, celebrate progress, and stand together against discrimination, stigma, and prejudice.

This year’s theme, “At the heart of democracy,” reminds us that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, valued and safe being themselves both in our communities and in our workplaces.

At Relationship Matters, we are committed to creating inclusive, welcoming and supportive spaces for all people, families and relationships.

We know inclusion is not just about words. It is about everyday actions, respectful conversations and making sure people feel safe to access support without fear of judgement.

Today, and every day, we stand with LGBTQIA+ communities.

Couples and Relationship Counselling

Relationships can feel hard sometimes.

You can care deeply about someone and still feel disconnected, stuck in the same arguments or unsure how to communicate without things escalating.

A lot of people wait until things feel really bad before reaching out for support.

Relationship Counselling provides a space to slow things down, talk openly and work through challenges together.

At Relationship Matters, we support couples and people in relationships to reconnect, improve communication and navigate difficult periods together.

We welcome all couples and relationship types, including LGBTIQA+ communities.

Free webinar. Supporting better outcomes for children during separation.

Separation is never easy, and it can be even more complex when children are involved.

Many families want to do what is best for their children but aren’t always sure how to include their voices in the process.

We’re running a free webinar to explore how Child Inclusive Mediation supports families to make more informed, child focused decisions.

The session will be led by Marney Bowden and Kavita Singh from Relationship Matters, experienced practitioners supporting families through separation.

We’ll talk through:
• what Child Inclusive Mediation is
• how children’s perspectives are included
• how this supports better co-parenting outcomes
• how it can reduce conflict and support long term outcomes

This session is for anyone going through separation or supporting families with children.
