Tonight I walked into the 24/7 gym to close the roller door, and it was great to see someone in there training. It genuinely stopped me for a moment.
It’s rare now that I come in and there isn’t someone training — and that feels pretty special.
This photo is from when we first set up Mickys Fitness all those years ago. Even before I moved to Australia, I had a vision of building a gym that was more than just weights and treadmills. I wanted a place where people felt welcome, valued, supported, and part of something.
When we first opened, Mickys Fitness was very much focused on group fitness. The gym space itself was small, fully staffed, and built to support the classes. Back then, once the morning classes finished, there were long stretches where the gym would be completely empty until the evening sessions began.
To walk in now and see people training throughout the day — especially in the 24/7 gym — is incredibly humbling. It’s also great to see more men using the gym now, alongside the strong female community that helped build this place from the very beginning.
We’re coming up close to 15 years, and there were plenty of moments along the way where it could’ve gone the other way. But the changes, the improvements, and the vision have worked — and they’ve kept us going.
To those of you who’ve been here from day one — there’s only a handful left, but you know who you are — thank you. Your loyalty means more than you’ll ever know. And to everyone who’s been here for years and years and helped build this strong community, I’m so grateful.
From the Forever Young crew, to boxing, cycle, classes, and the 24/7 legends — and our amazing staff — all these little communities together are what make this place what it is.
Looking ahead to tomorrow:
• I’m teaching the 6am
• Gayle is on at 8am
• Carolina’s taking the 9:15am circuit
Classes are busy, plenty of people booked in — and that’s so good to see.
Just reflecting tonight and feeling very grateful. The vision was always to build a great gym where everyone feels welcome… and seeing it lived out every day now means the world to me.
Hope to see you tomorrow ❤️💪
