Self-love isn’t just bubble baths, affirmations, and treating yourself to nice things. True self-love is raw. It’s messy.
It’s looking at the parts of yourself you’ve ignored, the wounds you’ve buried, and the patterns that keep showing up, no matter how much you try to move past them.
Healing isn’t always peaceful—it can feel like breaking apart before coming back together. It’s crying when you don’t even know why, setting boundaries that make others uncomfortable, and walking away from what no longer serves you, even when it hurts.
It’s sitting in the discomfort of old wounds resurfacing. It’s facing grief, heartbreak, and the versions of yourself you’ve had to shed along the way. It’s choosing to love yourself, even when you feel unworthy.
But here’s the truth: the mess is part of the process. The breaking is part of the becoming. Healing asks you to feel deeply, to release what weighs you down, and to trust that on the other side of this, there is more light, more love, and more of you.
So if your healing feels heavy right now, if it feels anything but pretty—know that you’re doing it right. Keep going. Keep choosing you. Even in the messy, even in the hard. Because this is self-love.
