🌈 Wear It Purple Day is all about celebrating and supporting LGBTQIA+ young people! One powerful way to do that is through inclusive language.

Let’s talk pronouns
💜 What are they?
💜 Why might someone use different ones or ask to be called something else?
💜 What should you do if you make a mistake and how you can show allyship!

It’s okay not to know everything. What matters is being open, respectful, and willing to learn. Using someone’s correct pronouns is a simple way to show you care 💜🏳️‍🌈

📚 Info from the amazing Wear It Purple guide: “Misgendering + Pronouns: A guide to using inclusive language when speaking languages other than English”

National Sorry Day

At headspace Glenroy, we pause today to acknowledge National Sorry Day — a time to remember the Stolen Generations and the ongoing impact of forced removals on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Reconciliation begins with truth-telling, and we recognise that healing cannot happen without acknowledging the deep intergenerational trauma caused by these injustices. We stand in solidarity with First Nations communities and reaffirm our commitment to being a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful space for all young people.

We work, live, and play on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Glenroy, in the heart of Merri-bek, sits on Country that has been cared for by the Wurundjeri for tens of thousands of years. The nearby Merri Merri Creek, meaning “very rocky” in Woi-wurrung, was a vital part of cultural, spiritual, and daily life. Colonisation brought immense disruption, but the strength and resilience of the Wurundjeri people endures. We honour their ongoing connection to land, water, and community — and we acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land. 🖤💛❤️

Notice: ANZAC Day Closure

headspace Glenroy will be closed tomorrow in observance of ANZAC Day.

On this special day, we want to honour the brave souls who have served and continue to serve our country. We also want to highlight the importance of supporting their mental health. Remember, there's no shame in going through tough times – the bravest thing you can do is reach out for support.

If you're a veteran, currently serving, or a family member, Open Arms is available 24/7 for crisis and counselling support at 1800 011 046.

We'll be back open at 9 am on Monday, April 28th.

If you need support during the public holiday, head over to eheadspace.org.au for online resources and one-on-one support available every day from 9 am to 1 am.

For urgent help, call Lifeline at 13 11 14 or Kids Helpline at 1800 551 800. In an emergency, dial 000.
