Ready for a personal post?
Through my work, I am someone who others trust with their secrets, fears and traumas to help guide and facilitate healing.
Therefore, I believe that it's important that people know a bit about me.
Being able to relate, empathise and understand others comes from navigating my own challenges and experiences.
One of the BIGGEST things I have struggled with is giving myself permission to slow down.
Let's explore what happens in your body and mind when you read the statement below?
"Slowing down is the key to success"
What's your relationship with taking it easy? Taking rest? Going slow?
For me, I used to HATE it.
Slowing down meant failure, being lazy, useless... In my experience, the world always expected, needed, wanted more from me and I felt the need to be what they expected.
Rushing, chasing, trying.
The endless search that pulls me away from just being. So, why do I believe that slowing down is the secret to success?
We live in such an over stimulating world, with everything around us making it incredibly hard to regulate ourselves. It's difficult to get a moment of peace where we can listen to ourselves and what we need.
When we are constantly overwhelmed, unregulated and ignoring our own needs, the decisions and choices we make may not be what we need or want.
By slowing down you are allowing your body, mind, nervous system and spirit to breathe.
You may find that you are more creative, emotionally balanced, mentally stable, sleep improves, stress reduces, muscle tightness releases, life feels easier, better habits, self care become easy and your overall capacity to deal with challenges improves.
So I'm inviting you, for the rest of January, to slow down. Take rest where needed. Say no to commitments when you want to. Practice mindfulness and slow movements.
But if you're struggling to slow down, reach out and I can provide tailored sessions to help 🙏
